My mum told me when she worked at a wood yard she found a bandage stuffed inside a hole in the Wood and inside the bandage was a tiny ivory box that when pulled apart was a silver figurine of Mary holding baby jesus. I remember seeing it when I was a kid and never forgotten it's beautiful face or the tiny baby. The wood was from abroad that's all mum remembered I think it's been lost over the years but it was such a weird thing to be found like that

Fourth week with Covid-19 and all the mudlark gang videos are a delight. Congrats on the great find Matt. WE live near a river and the mud bed is so thick and dangerous it makes larking a real safety issue, but on real good days we did go, I'm not out or about until I test negative instead of radioactive lol. Do people explore old sewage/drainage tunnels or parts of rivers that have been blocked off to the public?

Oh that is so lovely that Matt found that beautiful Roman pot!!! Congrats to him :) Very much enjoyed the video :) and loved seeing the hutch with all your finds behind you both - you have a fantastic collection! It still amazes me that you can just go to a river and find something that old, from the Roman occupation. I am in New England and got all excited because I found a bottle when digging in the garden that was from the 1800s (house built in 1863). I can't even imagine the feeling of finding something that old, touching something so ancient. Lucky!!
