Spend the day shopping with mom and when we got home a crazy storm blew through and a TREE fell on my workshop area are the cottage! Scared me to death! But luckily nothing was badly damaged

As an English teacher, I need to give props to whomever that book collection belonged to - those were some fantastic texts. Classic literature gets such a bad rap for being boring but not if you find the right ones, and almost every one in my top ten classics was there - Wuthering Heights is a masterpiece. I love it!

Hey MaCenna, I just wanted to tell you that I live vicariously through your mom and yous relationship as I lost my mom in a fatal car accident when i was 17. I’m now 31 and the pain never goes away. @calimelmo503, I had that relationship with my mom also! I miss it now that she is suffering from Alzheimer’s, it’s hard 😢 I love watching MaCenna and her mom together! I thought I was doomed not to have a daughter relationship like that because I have a son, but my husband’s daughter (who he had not seen for years) got in touch with us after her mom passed, so I have that with her and I am super close to my son and Mama Fox to all his friends. Then he met his girlfriend and she and I share brain cells, I swear!!! She is so precious and I love her to pieces! Now I have the best of everything, a close amazing relationship with my son and being a boy mom, and my stepdaughter and daughter-in-law to be are my daughter/mom relationship that is so special also! For a woman who had major infertility issues, my cup is full and running over! So thankful to my parents for modeling amazing parenting!! Macenna’s children will so benefit from her close family!

This one was interesting for me - so many connections in this one! The hardware you bought has all been in my kitchen! Bought the crackled white porcelain with the brass center screw and decided they looked too busy (in THIS kitchen - I had a kitchen in another house where they looked perfect) so I replaced them. With the brass bullseye ones you also bought! And they were perfect for here and what's in my kitchen right now. The milk glass trumpet shaped glasses are something my mother had a pair of. She put a sweet potato in each one and grew the prettiest sweet potato vines flowing down from the upper sills of each of a pair of windows at one end of our dining room. I always thought they were beautiful and I loved that when they started to get raggedy looking, you could just start over with a fresh sweet potato - the shape of the glasses was just right! And finally, I have or have had ALL the books you bought! I still have the art books. The ones with the gilt edged pages I had a huge set of until a year and a half ago. I bought them when I was first married in the 80s and they were part of a plan similar to a book club where they sent one or two a month (unless you opted out) and they had a couple of "sales" each year where you could pick up volumes you'd missed for a good price. I have a few - about 10 - of the older set with the deckle edged pages. They were ones my mother bought the same way in the 60s when I was a young kid (I just looked at the dates on a couple and saw '65 and '68). She had more but evidently got rid of them for lack of space when she moved. 😢 Both sets look like leather but are "leatherette". I coveted the leather bound ones, but couldn't justify the extra cost when they looked much the same on the shelf or a table. There is a set still being sold with gorgeous leather bindings, more expensive of course, but I don't think they're sold in a book club format. I could be absolutely wrong about that part! If you're interested, I think the company is called Easton Press or Easton Printers.

Glad you are safe and the tree not do damage! We had a tornado hit not far from us. No one hurt, just down trees and things scattered around in the DFW area. You are a trooper, I know you'll be happy with the end result. Looking forward to seeing the reveal! You're so lucky you can sign up early for the estate sale! Here in MI you have to show up very early on the day of the sale to get a decent spot on the entry list. Then people leave, go get breakfast to kill time, and then come back and wait till the estate sale company starts letting people in! But gosh, I love going :) Glad your workshop is pretty intact after that wind!

The art books you can showcase open on a coffee table or a console. So glad you’re being more purposeful in your book selection! Henrik Ibsen wrote many plays, very good. Jane Eyre is such a classic. You should tell your mom with her vase hunt to go to a pottery maker themselves. A lot of times you can find really nice, maybe even custom, pieces and sometime going directly to a potter, you can get it cheaper.

😁 Yes! I’m so happy that you bought the white porcelain & brass knobs. I Love them!! I was looking for 8 of the exact same knobs and it took me almost 2 years. They were $10.00 dollars each. But made a deal with the guy at a yard sale and got them for $5.00 each. I Love them so much. Used them on a Antique Side Board & they look amazing!! Really excited to see the Kitchen Cabinets in the Cottage. :)

My FAVORITE place to get raman bowls is from University art shows! The pottery students make all kinds of art, its some of the most beautiful stuff you'll ever own and it supports young artists. I have one bowl in particular that our entire family fights over because its made so thick and perfect.
