I met him once at a restaurant once and we were at the register paying at the same time. I told him the dental skit was the funniest thing I had ever seen and that I had literally rolled on the floor laughing with tears. He look at me, shook my hand and and thanked me profusely as if it was the first time he had ever heard such a thing. A real gentleman!

He still brings me to tears of laughter! Have watched him since the 60's. Tuesday's were special. We watched Combat first, then Mchale's Navy then to bed. My dad was a WWII vet & said Combat was closest to the war & then followed by the funny Mchale's Navy which wouldn't have been as funny without Tim. He really brought the house down on the Carol Burnett Show. Shows & movies he made were family shows. I love to watch these clips from a time, though not void of tension (Vietnam, changing more, etc) but people & families separated the stress of daily living from entertainment & family togetherness. Laughter is healthy for the soul & Tim still brings me to tears. He was a natural comedian. We'll always miss him but grateful for these videos.

With a look or a stumble in slow motion, maybe an accent or the way he immersed himself into his character...before saying a word, your belly would begin to ache because you couldn’t stop giggling and outright guffawing, tears streaking down your face and for that moment happiness prevailed, audiences were united and perpetuated the laughter, common ground found. Tim Conway brought joy, happiness and laughter to millions of people no matter what stage he was on. His movies, TV shows, The Carol Burnett Show, his own show, even interviews on tv. He was not only a master entertainer, a genius at his craft but he had to have been in superb physical shape to do some of the things he did. He could go from stiff as a board to limp as a wet noodle in seconds, from playing a macho type man to a mousy type. His body was an integral part of his acts and he was in complete control of it and always matched his movements to the character and you didn't even realize it until after the show was over and you could think about it. During his act you were too busy laughing. I first saw Tim Conway in McHale's Navy. I lived with my grandparents, they were poor but they had a tiny black & white TV and never missed an episode because their son, my uncle, was in the Navy in WWII. As an adult, I missed a few decades of TV because of work and family responsibilities but now I'm retired and can watch all that I missed of Mr. Conways' brilliance!
