So my videos are going out of sequence at the moment owing to me having had a bit of luck on the salmon and sea trout front. This video is from back in early July 2023 when I had the boat for a few hours in the afternoon. The club put a boat on the loch this season, so I wanted to have a go as I'd never fished the loch, often walking past it on the way up to another couple of lochs the club has access to.
I didn't find it easy at all, conditions were good, but no fish were seen, I managed 4 I think and lost 2 others. I started on wet flies but switched to a pair of dry flies after lunch despite seeing no rising fish at all and that got me a couple more fish and a handful of offers.

Ha, I think what I meant was that for a hill loch (some others very nearby the fish seem more obliging) it wasn’t really easy. Sometimes, the hill lochs can seem ‘easy’ and no matter what generic fly you use, they’ll have a go. There, I was scratching round changing methods, which don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the challenge too. It’s good to have the boat on it now for folk to use. Take for example the big Storr Loch however, got my arse kicked last two comps on there, blanked on the rainbows. Lots did, last comp is this sat, boats to fetch in, last time i was on Di3 line in desperation 😆
