An EPIC day fly fishing on the Storr Lochs | Brown trout & rainbow trout | PART 2

So, as the title suggests, this is the second part and the remaining footage I had left to try to edit into some kind of video to share, of a great day I had on Loch Leathan last season (31st May). Not all days on the big loch are like this, but it did fish well last season around mayfly time, before getting rock hard again! The lochs are controlled by Portree Angling Association and can be fished on day ticket, fly only. The website link is below.

The day followed three parts really - I started off on a pair of wet flies on a floating line before moving to slower tactics on a sink tip with nymph-like patterns. The latter tactic got me more fish in the middle of the day in the bright sun, then later I returned to wets which the fish seemed more willing to take in the wave while more mayfly were coming off. Towards late afternoon and into evening, things really switched on and I dispensed with the 5wt sink tip for a floating line and single dry fly which produced some exhilarating sport.

Great sport there, Matt! Stunning views, too. Did you say there was a mayfly hatch? That surprised me so far northwest! I've noticed the quality of your editing and production steadily improve, I think we all watch others and learn a bit from people doing well! 😉 👍

Thanks Dave, I hope they have improved a bit though as I say, I know my limitations and it’s tricky balancing just the ‘want to grab a bit of fishing’ versus the task of filming different angles & then the editing process etc. But I do enjoy doing them whatever, this one was hard because I preferred how part 1 turned out and was going to split the remainder into 2 parts but just decided I wanted it done & dusted. So it’s far too long really for folk to sit through 😆 thanks for the continued support & taking time to comment mate, yes we have a mayfly hatch on the Storr Lochs - it makes it quite unique up here, she can be a tough old mistress though at times, this was definitely a ‘going day’. Im told 10 mins is the optimum length for a video, but its hard for me even to crop them down to 14 mins!! I'm having a break, still collecting clips but holding back on more editing! That said not much happening, with continuing spates here. So resorted to squirmy wormy, even streamer not producing 😂 I may do a stillwater coarse fishing one. Some tench turning up now. Motivation seems to dissappear after the 1k barrier 😂
