A trip to Lotus Cars Hethel Factory

In 2017 I went to Lotus Cars Hethel Factory - this is that story.
I also went to Classic Team Lotus and met Clive Chapman.

Absolutely. I want to go back to see the "new" Lotus. I'd love to connect it to a track driving experience. But who knows. That's just a dream at the moment. :)

@GoodmorningGoodnight I live in Cincinnati and North of me in Columbus Ohio they have 3 Emira's they just got in. I got a letter to go test drive, but haven't yet.

What a fantastic experience! I really enjoyed your explanation of the “‘tour” you got, and the fact that you were so awestruck by it. I totally get that. A few years back my wife and I were in Italy and while we didn’t go inside the Ferrari factory that day, we did eat at the Cavallino across the street and hit a couple of other places near the factory. And all I could do was blabber on about nothing and drool. My wife always tells people it was the only me she ever saw me speechless! To tour the Lotus factory (especially now being an owner) would be just… well, I mean, how cool… See, there I go… Thanks for the video reminiscence. One of your best!!!

Yes. You get it. We were in Italy briefly and so many good car companies in a short distance. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Alfa Romeo. We had time for the Alfa Romeo museum which, is small but actually quite lovely while you're there. The bigger brands were a little bit out of reach for the time that we had. I guess it's a reason to go back and eat some more pizza and have some more fun? Lol

Wow, incredible story! Neil sounds like one incredible stand up dude to go out of his way like that to give an experience of a lifetime like that to a hardcore enthusiast. I'd also love to be able to do a tour of the factory in the near future, especially before production of the Emira ends and sadly go all electric. When that happens, I don't see how it'll be the same enthusiast brand like when you went in 2017. After being a Lotus enthusiast since 13 years old around 2001, I recently became an owner myself last September with a 2005 Elise which has been absolutely incredible! Talk about an F1 car for the road... I was torn between it and an Evora like yours since there are a lot of things I love about the Evora (Rock solid 2GR-FE Toyota V6, looks, more livability on long trips, etc), and hopefully I may also get one in the next few years to go along with my Elise, especially for longer road trips. Have you ever heard of the annual Lotus Owners Gathering? Next year will be the 43rd one, and it'll be in Austin, TX from 9/27-29. I'll probably fly down and Turo an MX5 or something since I'm not quite ready to drive my Elise all the way from South Carolina. Appreciate all the Evora content you've provided over the years which will definitely help me if I am able to add one to my garage - keep it up!!

Yes indeed. Neil is the man. I hope he sees this. The Elise is fabulous. I autocross against a couple of them and always think if I had room for one more.... For the LOG events. I've never been. I foolishly missed one on the north east near me a few years back. That one would have been drivable for me. Texas would be fun, but also not drivable for me. I'll have to make it some day.
