In this video, I visit the Bodega Bay Oyster Company and buy some large oysters to cook on the BBQ grill. These fresh, live oysters, turned out excellent, on my Weber charcoal grill. Fresh oysters, in the shell, are delicious grilled this way and topped with a variety of sauces. For more easy cooking and recipes, be sure to check out my easy cooking channel. / @tostinmaneasycooking

Top Notch Tinman. Just made these tonight following your guidelines. I prepared a sauteed garlic-lemon butter sauce that I drenched over the half shell once it had opened (while preserving the natural oyster juice) and it was honestly the best oysters I have had. My mom agreed. Oddly, though, there wasn't much a charcoal taste imparted. I chalk that up the to too many coals and the oysters getting done/opening too quickly. Either way. Great technique. Thanks for the video.

+Cristian Martinez. Actually the oysters that don't open when barbecued are completely fine to eat. Some of them just seize up and don't relax the muscle when they are cooked. You just have to shuck them open yourself. Quick tip: Shuck the oyster from the hinge side, not from the wide side that opens when cooked. One, it will be easier to get open the ones that didn't open; and two, you won't get as much shell residue in your oyster meat!

I am the world's expert on charcoal grilling. First lay a FLAT bed of briquettes (never make a pyramid). Second place a paper towel soaked in vegetable oil (never use fuel) on the whole top then light. Third put the seafood on the grill after the paper burns down, 5 minutes. Briquettes will burn slowly and will smoke the seafood or meat to perfection. Seafood will take 30 minutes and meat one hour.
