This guy is amazing. The Life he's been through and still has such a positive outlook on life. Some of us moan and groan and Bitch about silly things and we don't realize we are living in paradise compared to this fella and he's happier than most of us schmucks. It's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years. Great piece Jim.

What scares me is he was a criminal justice major, I am a criminal justice major and I am in debt up to my ears with student loans. The irony is amazing especially considering I went from homeless to at least being in a rental with my family these days, money is tight but we manage to at least pay the bills and put food on the table. Jim, this interview was very up lifting. I have worked 45 years for the railroad and have see many Hobos around the train yards and on some of the trains I have worked. I glad Eric said what he said about the dangers of being around the rails and trains. I have seen and been involved were a Hobo was run over by the train. All railroad systems are under federal law so if you get caught on the property you go to jail for a long time. 911 has heightened the fact that the rail system needs to be safe from unwanted persons. Just think if a bad guy got on a chemical train and placed a bomb, he could kill thounds of people with one train in a major city. As an Engineer for the railroad I would like to say, please stay away from train riding because of the danger and the time you could sever in "jail". I also have hundreds of sorties I could tell about railroad life. Maybe one day I'll ride Amtrak to your city and we could do an interview from the other side of the coin. Keep up the good video and sorry this comment was so long.

Jim, I only follow a handful of individuals on KZbin for their postings of camera mounted aircraft. Just a few of those have similar interests in terms of why they fly and what they fly over. I rarely miss your postings and when I do, I usually take some time to catch up. You're an interesting character and I appreciate what you have to say, as well as the information you have shared. Some day I'll get up there to visit my extended family in Forest Hill and look you up to fly together if you'll allow me. I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself and pay you a high complement on your interview with Eric. It allows us to take a look into the heart and mind of those who go unseen or disrespected. I grew up in a house in Springfield, IL just a few feet from the railroad tracks. My brother and I knew the conductors and some of the hobos. I once found an old hobo in our garage sleeping it off. They all had a story. Thanks so much for letting us hear Eric's story. You're a good man, Jim. God bless.
