Covid has a lot to answer for, we too are land locked again. Akcali is a good anchorage in the conditions you had but when the wind swings round it can be untenable! Mersincik is a great place fringe of seasons but again nothing onshore! Great video again, see you after lockdown!

Never get bored of watching videos of the beautiful Mediterranean. So to understand what I just saw… you sailed to Akcali and but returned to Kas once a full lockdown was announced? Thanks for the videos guys, all the best and stay safe!

Hi Riccardo, the date at the beginning of the Akcali video is 13th April, the lock down did not start until 29th April, that's the date we arrived back at Kas. So there is still quite a bit more sailing and anchorages to be released.

Went to bed early - missed your drop - watching 5 AM Saturday morning - eating some left over ice cream from last night while I watch. That really did look like an nice anchorage - and it must be pretty there - which would be all the reason those red roofed condo's behind you. At the end you so casually dropped the Kas' announcement. I don't think you'll ever be able to leave and sail back to Australia till 2023.

I didn’t know you two were into swinging. There is no Akcali bay on the map but there is Murdala Koyu.

😂 Swinging free is the only way to be... The bay name is corrected in the video description and our accompanying blogs, but it is too late to change it in the video. To the NE of the bay is Akcali island.

@@SailingABSea I read there’s not much going on at the shore over there because road access is very difficult. Though it seems there’s some holiday home development over there.

Yes the road access is just a dirt road. We were surprised to see the holiday homes development and we wondered what they did for food and drink supplies. Maybe there's a small shop on site, but it would only be open seasonally.

A little confused about this lockdown. I thought as you did yet i see both local and foreigner who appear to have residency boats coming and going in and out of the marina. Also the other marinas in our group, are they as noisy and dirty as the one i am in? And it appears Greece is opening up - wonder if you have heard anything about whether we can pop over from here? Cheers

Hey Mat, we've heard that the governor of Mugla province has allowed all vessels to move freely. So boat movement depends on which province you're in. Forget which marina you are in, but we can say that Kas marina is quiet and clean. We've heard that the border between Turkey and Greece may be open this summer. Time will tell.

@@SailingABSea Many thanks for insight. I am in Marmaris. Non stop racket.The Yacht Marina appears to be more relaxed and much quieter. Looking forward to heading out but still need to finish some work. Greece would be great (i am in one of the only need a neg test to be able to go countries) as I am looking for options after summer. ​@@SailingABSea Watched "Mooring FAILS we're ON THE ROCKS" ... frightening yes .... I've witnessed a 300k+ motorboat hit rock jetty [TOTALLED], a 30' sailboat get caught between pilings [TOTALLED], 35' Tartan go aground in mud trying to rescue a overturned Hobie cat [Both SAVED by USCG]. All took place within an hour [Tartan save took longer]. I was at anchor in 45 kn wind/brutal rain storm, watching the whole thing unfold Good thing you were able to get off those rocks !!!!

@@AlienX69 Things happen so quickly. At anchor near Athens, Greece we got hit by a fast and furious storm. A charter boat dragged anchor but was OK. A day cruiser power boat ended up stuck in the shallow water at the beach. Two friends day cruisers came and dragged him out into deeper water. Fun with boats eh.

Are you not allowed to free swing during this level of lockdown?

Movement across province borders is restricted for Turkish residents and citizens. Tourists have free range. When we anchor we prefer swinging free rather than line ashore. Currently once you enter a marina you will not be allowed to depart unless you are a tourist charter boat.

No, there was another big blow coming and we wanted to make tracks further north to a protected bay up there. But we do plan on returning and taking the dinghy to shore and exploring.

Well I cannot see Turkey making the ‘green list’ this holiday season. Their case rate is woefully underestimated because they are only testing at 20% of U.K. rate (normalised for population).
