DUP policies are as follows. 1. Keep Sinn Fein out. That's basically it. Never mind the fact First and Deputy first minister have the same power, or the fact they share power with the second biggest party, better known as Sinn Fein! The sooner this country votes for policies, not parties the better!

I agree. I say this to anybody SNP/Labor democrat or republican. Don't vote based on party loyalty or region pr religion vote on policy. I mean it pisses me off that the UK government is trying to pass a one line bill to leave the EU and the government has admitted it is fully depending on party loyalty to pass it. No bill or law should be passed based on loyalty

good luck with that... the rest of the uk and southern ireland look at this lot with disbelief at the moment it looks as if the DUP are stalling on going back in to government because of the IRISH LANGUAGE BILL .... good god u could not make this stuff up .. they are still in 1969 hoping to get back to 1690 its sad feel sorry for the people of northern ireland

imedi Sinn Fein will not go back into government until they get money the NI government didn't have to pay for the Irish language bill. Now DUP has managed to get 5 hundred pound for every man women and child in Northern Ireland if Sinn Fein ask DUP nicely for there bit of this British money they could pay for the Irish language . Lol you couldn't make it up
@imedi
@imedi 7 жыл бұрын
the problem has nothing to do with money ...that money is not given to the DUP to distribute.. the problem is that the DUP dont want to be seen to give an inch in anything even someting as small as a language bill that was already agreed on 10 years ago.. its like watching a bunch of spoilt 5 year olds trying to run a country

Probably within 20 years at the outside. This assumes that by “Catholics,” you mean people of Catholic descent and/or identifying as culturally Catholic, rather than, say, active Mass-goers. Although rates of active participation in religious activities continue to be higher in Northern Ireland than in either Great Britain or the Republic, they are declining and are likely to continue to decline. The arrival of a Catholic majority might not be the big deal that was once thought. First, there will be a significant time lag (perhaps at least 18 years) between the emergence of a simple majority and a Catholic majority among voters. Moreover, even a Catholic voting majority does not portend any major constitutional changes. Before the Troubles, there was a simple assumption that when Catholics achieved a voting majority, they would opt en masse for Irish unification. Opinion polls since the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, however, show substantial Catholic support for remaining part of the U.K. (Eamon O'Kelly, Studying Irish history for sixty years)

Here's an idea. How about the Tories and Labour coalition to grant Northern Ireland to Ireland and creat a United Ireland. Then let the number of seats needed to given a government will be 316. That will allow the Tories to have a majority and May will probably gain popularity. It's a win win.

An old fella from Tigers bay once told me that when he was a child the local Unionist association used to come round and sing the slogan, ''even when your poor and living without hope, isn't it a great thing that we saved you from the pope'' Point being (and even working class Protestants now believe it) is that the Unionist establishment failed them, none of them had any part in Catholic-Nationalist discrimination but I would never underestimate their loyalty to what they believe in. The Old Unionist establishment is gone and overtaken by the more populist grassrots DUP, where I am they are the only people with an open surgery for people. I have no problem with people not trusting Sinn Fein either, a party with a group that has murdered its way into government and they want us to Trust them? Suddenly they are all things to all people? And not all Unionists who vote DUP are nutters or all people who vote SF Terrorist supporters.

+Mr. WhatChaMaCalum Your comments are highly irrelevant. This man has voted for the DUP for the exact same purpose as everyone else does in the North and that is to ensure the DUP remain as the leading party within the administration thus keeping Sinn Fein and other nationalist parties within the minority resultantly ensuring that the implementation of a one day Unified Ireland will become less and less feasible. There is no other reason for the existence of unionist and nationalist parties within the executive.

Doesn't sound surprising since the Unionist parties did Ally with Hitler during WWII, most of their senior leaders were arrested during the The Right Club Scandal (They promoted the Genocide of Jews) and is also the reason the chairmen of the Nazi party, Rudolf Walter Richard Heß flew into Scotland to meet them, but accidentally landed in Glasgow instead of in Northumberland (Main Unionist stronghold) They also gotten guns directly from the German Kaiser before WWI and threaten to install him as the UK head of State. SO it you see a WWI or WWII Unionist Parade, you will know the reason for the Booing and throwing of stones

The German guns the Loyalist received from the Kaiser were used against the Allied Forces during WWI, as the loyalist did riot and threaten people with them, which created a tense environment which generated the 1916 Rising. These Actions delay many nations from entering WWI early on including the USA, and was viewed as a major German propaganda victory Republic of Ireland wasn't viewed as a safe haven for WWII Criminals, believe the only major one they took in and knew who he was is Célestin Lainé who basically was waging a Independence of Breton movement in France during WWII UK for example took in 28,000 German POW as citizen by 1948 from former Slave Labor POWs working in the UK alone Also UK arrested most of it Jewish population from 1937-1948 and sent them into concentration Camps Plus Ireland was in a economic recession during and right after WWII and couldn't support immigrants that weren't already well off I, hope that help you understand WWI though WWII history

+USSF 1912 36th Ulster division was used to get military training for usage in fighting UK citizens at a later date, they didn't volunteer to fight the Germans and were very open on that fact Actually they did use those Germans guns during WWI as their was quite a few armed riots in Ulster and Dublin by the loyalist which diverted troops to put them down Hence the Nationalist spoof say "We serve no King or Kaiser but Ireland" ridiculing the Loyalist stances Also Ireland did accept quite a few Holocaust survivors hetireland.org/programmes/survivors-testimony/holocaust-survivors-ireland/ I believe you are confusing Ireland with the UK as most Jews in the UK were in Camps during the entire War and even after till Israel independence. sputniknews.com/europe/20151008/1028226503/british-concentration-camps-jewish-refugees-wwii.html I also can't find any proof of the Republic of Ireland being viewed as a Nazi hideaway when UK, Spain, Finland, South America, Canada, Australia, and the US were viewed as better options UK alone probably gave over 100,000 former Nazi solders citizenship
