I actually live 25 miles away from Rivendell Bicycles, but never heard of them until I ran into your channel this year. I wish I had. I moved into my own place 10 years ago and started looking for a bike. Had bike shops in 10 miles radius and they were all Trek, Specialized, etc. Nothing wrong with those, but I had wanted a bike with kickstand and sweptback bar. And none of the bike shops had those. They are all drop bars, straight bars. It boggles the mind. And most of them spoke and treat cycling in way of sports. While the bike I had wanted would have been like a Riv Platypus or such.

Even if you’re not in the market you should take a visit to try out what a Rivendell feels like to ride. I’ve heard they’re super nice people as well.

Seoul is exponentially more populous and geographically larger than where I live in Boston and yet it seems so much more laid back and quiet.

I think you can just find those laid back places by bike. There are plenty of busy and chaotic places which I tend to avoid.

Dude, I know it was just a passing remark, but that "climate change kinda terrifies me" was so refreshing to hear. I live in Australia where we're heading towards summer, and the weather is absolute chaos this year. I've been thinking about climate change almost constantly, and the fact that most people just seem to ignore it makes the feeling so much worse. If we're going to overcome this I think we need to start being really honest with ourselves and each other about how we're feeling. Thank you for doing that publicly ❤it might seem insignificant to you but I genuinely think it's an important step towards collective action.

It is scary and I feel like we are sleepwalking into disaster. We can all do small things, that when added up can make a difference but ultimately, we need to expect more from our governments. Riding bikes, at least helps distract from the impending doom!

Sadly, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line once allowed bicycles on work days outside peak commuting hours, no more. Was great to bypass the heavily trafficked portions of the bike paths and get out in the country. The rail to trail portions out to Yangpyong was one of my favorites. Where I live, the gingko trees are beautiful right now, with a golden carpet of fallen leaves cushioning the path. For riding on the metro, a great hack I learned from a Korean cyclist is to secure brakes with heavy rubber bands when there's no way to affix the bike. Now, I carry some with me to pass on the favor he did for me.
@probablyriding2 күн бұрын
Nice. I use a Voile strap to hold the brake lever.
