Their original songs are pretty good, this cover was limp though, they definitely don't have a boner for the counting crows. I seriously don't know why people are so upset about this. I guess maybe their vocal style, but the verses on Mr. Jones aren't really something you belt out. The original song doesn't do anything to intricate with the vocals during the verses, it makes the chorus have more of a payoff. I don't know I guess if you only listen to cleanly produced stuff it can be jarring, but I personally like to have a little more bite in my rock music.

That's not the place for me to add my own interpretation. In this case, it felt like it was a desire to intentionally make the song more queer.
