A (Valentine's) day in the life of Sam Laidlow

Hope you enjoy this honest recap of what a day in my shoes looks like.
After coming back from travelling the day prior this training day is what i would called "average", hopefully sometime in the near future we can share some of the more "epic" workouts also. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the swim,bike,run, and banter 👌🏻

Always good to watch real training Sam. And you're most definitely not my least favourite triathlete. In fact I know you claim French, but most British people claim you as well :) and damn, I wish I could swim at half your speed :) Just need Andrew Horsfall-turner to qualify for Kona, now that would be some way off the front pack.

Yes, I actually have little difference between my power in and out tt position. Definitely doing intervals in position is key

I’ve tested both lactate and V02 many times and although yes your lactate values can change day to day. Because we work with our bodies most days we also get a very good feel for our bodies.

Sick vid. I notice erg mode on zwift, do you do that a lot? Reckon it’s better than workouts without?

I find erg mode a little easier for sure, but easier to switch of and just suffer 😉 I guess riding outdoors is good also and definitely no erg mode there

@@LaidlowSam cool stuff I like erg mode too (mainly because I don’t have to concentrate as much), but I had heard some people say it’s not optimal… but if it works for the Kona bike course record holder it will work for me 😁

If only you hadn’t put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth with the cocky attitude and trash talk last season at PTO races… you’re a very gifted athlete and talented for sure with an incredible Kona debut race but image wise kinda screwed yourself for being less likable and relatable as a person on social media… which is a big part of the game these days. Hopefully you can recover from that and put out more positive vibes and a better image this season! Best of luck and cheering for you Sam 💪🏼

Great video Sam. Actually one of my favourite athletes. You seem genuine and authentic to me and carry what I consider to be a nice level of sarcasm. Seems to me your dad knows you and your abilities very well. Huge benefit for you to have someone who is obviously extremely knowledgeable and has worked with you for a long time. I look forward to your videos and races this year and in the years ahead. Curious where you are based out of. Looks like a very nice town. The back lanes and buildings are amazing.
