Nicola , Mike here your ice cream recommender, great video as always and such thoughtful words on what was a stressful Parkrun for the Redcar Parkrun community, I am very happy to inform you that my friend who had the cardiac arrest ,did survive and is on the road to recovery . We are also so grateful for the Paramedics passing by and taking part in the Parkrun who without doubt saved a life that day . My friends family are so thankful to everybody at the parkrun who helped and sent their good wishes. You and Poppy need to come back some day , when the stress levels are lower . Thank you keep the videos coming xx

Lovely Mike, thank you so much for being so very welcoming on the morning 🤗 we're so happy that help was on hand so quickly and that Ian is on the mend. A very stressful morning for you all indeed but we still felt super looked after and welcomed into your community so I can't thank you enough. Also... You were right about the lemon top! 😋🤤

Oh to be one hour away from the seaside - I remember it well. Aww poor Poppy must have been mortified - I remember a situation like that at Linford and it shook us all up so a little one must really feel it :-( Oh the size of that lemon top ice-cream yummy!! Thanks for sharing.

She was definitely really shaken up but thank goodness for the heroic response which resulted in a happy ending 🥰

Awwwwwwwe, I never knew that Heron's nested in trees!!! I agree with you (With me now pod ) that it should be a 'thing' that parkruns tell you all about the local goodness!! ❤❤❤
@NicolaRuns7 ай бұрын
Yes!!!!!!! I'm so happy you agree and also that I'm not the only one who didn't know about herons 🤣
@lornapotter93307 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly this!!! I never even thought about it, but if I was asked in let's say a pub quiz, I'd assumed they nested like Swans! 🤷♀️

Now that’s a way to play music at a parkrun without having to get a music licence ! Well done, Poppy. I am hoping to run at Cinder Track & visit the Captain Cook Museum in Stewart Park in 2025 so I will try & fit Rosebery Topping & a Lemon Trip into the excursion. 🙂 Roseberry Topping reminds me of Sugar Loaf Mountain in the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland (just South of Powerscourt Gardens). It is an easy climb & on a clear day you can see the Mountains of Mourne & Wales as well as the whole of Dublin.

It was definitely worth changing our plan for. We'd have missed out if we'd not got a lemon top!

Wow, where to start! 1) love lemontops. My partner introduced me to them and always have one up there (she's from that area and i think we visit more for the lemontop than to visit family!!). 2) the newbie in the first-timers is her sister-in-law Tracy! A new convert to parkrun and she's now been three consecutive weeks. 3) amazed the parkrun continued despite the medical event. Most would have rightly abandoned but im sure the core team had their reasons and in the hi-vis heroes we trust. 4) also surprised the route wasn't amended for the nesting heron. Lytham Hall switch to the B route if there's any sign of a nesting heron.

I can totally understand visiting for a lemon top! 😋🤤 Awww no way was it her sister-in-law! It's a small parkrunworld! There were loads of herons nesting, it was so amazing, I've never seen anything like it! 😍 I'm loving learning about heronries! Yes I didn't know whether the event would stop or not but they did amazingly at both dealing with the emergency in the best possible way and continuing the event too. Of course we would have fully understood if they'd have stopped! A wonderful, but stressful morning! 🙃 I'm just pleased there was a happy ending ❤️

At walsall parkrun last year someone had a heart attack at the end of the first lap. They cut it short and gave everyone 59.59. The main thing is that they made a good recovery.

Emergencies during a parkrun can be unsettling for everyone and particularly confronting for young ones. I hope Poppy wasn’t too upset. I remember that when I learned to read and write that all the familiar place names like Sheepscar, Harehills and Roundhay were not spelled as they sounded. The same thing happens wherever you live, people can be very particular about local pronunciation.

Thanks, yes Poppy was very shaken by seeing the defib in action but as it was a happy ending then it's a good lesson to learn. There's no greater demonstration of how important first aid is! ❤️

Never pleasant when somebody falls ill so abruptly... I totally recommend first aid courses for everybody (excepting those for whom it would be innapropriate) a friend of mine who is a first responder /paramedic goes to our local schools /brownies etc to deliver age appropriate first aiding so you may have something similar locally x
