Nice find. I remember this Swedish guy finding a wrecked Sonett in the -80s and restoring it into a trike. Can't find any pictures but what a cool trike that was/is

as soon as you said sorry to the girl, i subscribed, love it when people get as emotional as i do when i see a car rotting :( cars have feelings too they have personalities as soon as that battery is connected and they are fired up, they come to life, like a baby taking its first breathe......

What a Saab story this is... heh
@garywood95258 жыл бұрын
+rammice The car pretty well sums up what kind of deal GM got when they try to make a go at it. SAAB's were to be serviced at the Saturn dealers and that fiasco costed GM about $700 million only to dump SAAB in the end.

Gary wood Wow

+Gary wood it was the same deal in Australia only certain (GM)Holden dealers would service and sell SAAB and they hated it with all the warranty claims and recalls. couldn't wait for the contact to run out quick enough

I rounded up 6 two stroke SAABs when in Iived in N.Y. from '64 - '79 and had several friends who owned others. The cars would often sit abandoned after some inconvenient mechanical problem was to much for the owners to have repaired. Had a '99 also 'til it broke a piston at about 107k miles. Rust, especially on the front suspension towers, was a final blow and off to the junk yard. Sonetts seemed best after the Ford engines were installed as the 2 stoke versions seemed overly sprung with the sedan suspension parts. Good luck on your find.

I was just thinking, as a child in the 1970's...I remember seeing those Soccer Ball style wheels on cars around the early to middle around 73/5? I grew up in a town called Ballymun...first high rise development in Ireland. so that was always like a car show as the cars parking surrounds the blocks☺

I am from New Mexico now living in California I remember back in the days when we were youngsters messing around out there in the desert in the ditches of New Mexico behind trees in the forest everywhere we would find old cars from late fifties and forties some in the thirties I mean I didn't know better but me and my brothers use to throw big rocks at the windows of these cars. I couldn't believe it they don't break. All in tac. Rubber tire still there but flat the interior all still there in place the seats just Springs but still there. All that Chrome and headlights beautiful we used to steal hood ornaments off of them wonder whatever happened to them. New Mexico was our Summer Place we built a 4 bedroom home out there as a child I carried water buckets for concrete and Adobe mix I am 68 years old now and the house is still there. Wish it was mine. 😥

I was just thinking that. I have a car down the Street from me that is Identical to mine it's on 4 flats but the Body is better than mine and its got 100k less miles and is 3 years Newer. But the guy won't sell it unless it's $1000.00 over Blue book value. Another one is a Saab that's been sitting even longer on my street they gave me the whole story on it but Wont sell it I've actually watched it over the past 6 years get worse and worse now it's parked on dirt undey trees surrounded by trash.

That passenger door has the vertical ribs on the panel plus the grab handle and Vent window crank and the lower positioned window crank . Looks like a Sonett III by my guess. The V4 was a nightmare to remove because the whole front hood had to be removed . As for those rims, you can have a laser scanner make a 3D imagine for a 3d printer to make one and use a template to make a new rim from a aluminium billet .
@bOwToMeE08 жыл бұрын
it also says Sonet III inside it
@garywood95258 жыл бұрын
+bOwToMeE0 Duh, you've never seen people fake a sports car to paste a Name Plate or Badge on their car. The V W Beetle was popular for the replica Ferrari or Lambo. FORD and Mercury use unique VIN codes while Mercs usually start there production sequence # at 400,000 while Lincoln's start at 800,000 . This was to prevent fraud for used cars or damaged cars where a FORD and Merc used the same body that allowed someone to take Cougar frame parts and weld them on a damaged Mustang . Plus a base full size Model FORD could have been a Taxi but gets make up to look like a Crown Vic. The Fleet sales for Cop cars or the Military use a special VIN code Letter where the Model id would go . Be careful you don't get taken by some slick seller of a car you like where it's NOT the high end version worth $2000.00 more than the stock base sports car . $120 .00 worth of new Badges or a glove box door and shifter knob can fool some people. I had someone try to claim they had an original 1967 Cougar they bought new, but it had a 68 Steering wheel center piece while the steering column had the plastic sleeve for 68 because it was the collapsing Column for that year if you hit the wheel in an accident where in 67 it bashed your chest in . The early 68 Mustang had the rear raised reflector on the fender until the Die was changed to stamp a recessed hole for a flush reflector mounted by cap screws .

I live in New Hampshire and have found old cars like that walking through the woods or seen a old truck on the side of a bank on the bear camp river in Ossipee. I think they used to dump trash off the side of the bank and looks like someone ditched the truck there. Its all rusted except for the drivetrain. I mean u could still shift it through the gears. I bet it's still there to this day. Ill tell u were it is if u want

Back in like 2008 or 2009 there was a rare 1985 200sx turbo across the road from Star Speedway in NH. It may still be there. Was in the woods but visible from the road. Had no rot at all. It is a very rare and cool car. It resembles the AE86 which is a japanese classic. Asked the people if they would sell it and they said no but it was 10 years ago or so. Really makes me sad thinking that car may have went to waste.

Save those cars! It takes more resources to make a new one than to save an old one! The Saab company have unfortunately stopped business if you save these cars you can restore a beautiful car, enjoy driving it and one day sell it for good money! ;) I have saved two 1988 Toyota MR2 MK1's and a 1986 vw camper van. Beautiful machines!

I own a 1996 Saab 900 S . It run but needs help . I love this car so much but I don't know what, how or who, to get some direction as how I can save her. I live on SSI but willing to sacrifice my time,help, what little money I have left over from paying my bills. any suggestions would be very helpful. I don't own much of anything but I got her which is really all I have wanted to restore for years through the years I was able to accomplish some things but just not enough. Heck I'd be happy just to look at her everyday but the place where I live has let me have 3 weeks left of a parking space for it. Any advice or direction as how to save her would be greatly helpful and kind. Any ideas please put me in the notifications please. Thank You, Holly Bischoff

There is one of these cars, also orange, with the same "soccer ball" wheels, sitting in Charlerio, PA. It's been sitting in the same spot, right on Fallowfield Ave, which is one of 2 main streets running through the town. It's been there since the late '70's. Looks to be complete, and in very restorable condition. No idea who owns it, or why it was parked. Are these cars collectible? I'm a "car guy", but I don't know much about Saab automobiles. Maybe you can spot it using Google Earth?
