Today we see if the barnfind 1971 Fiat Spider 850 can be brought to life after 30 years of neglect and animal poop!!
This car was once owned by an older gentlemen in the 80's who was trying to restore the car after an accident, but passed away in the middle of the project. The car was then sold with the property and sat untouched in the back of a barn for 20 years. About 10 years ago my family acquired it, but having no interest in imports, we too stashed it in a barn for the next 10 years. Now, 31 years since it was last on the road, it's being given a second chance at life!

I had one jump in and try hanging out between my ignition coils & Plugs, and on top of my clutch slave actuator. He got the snot zapped out of him very fast (rotaries have 2 plugs per rotor and 0-9000rpm), and he had multiple oppertunities to work my hand over as I tried to help him or her out of their daze. Not even a aggressive growl from them. Totalled the clutch and smashed the pressure plate though. (assisted by brake pressure and they kinked the line, in a non-sexual way)

That's a rare Spider Possum version for USA. Standard 850 sedans in Italy had simple rats under the bonnet. This one is missing the giant milkshake holder on the dashboard though.

Being myself Italian i can tell you that the guy pronounced Fiat very well. I agree with you, those are very nice little cars but you must keep the cooling system in tip top shape; they are prone to overheating because of that unfortunate radiator position. The best thing is to replace the radiator all together with a brand new one ;)

And im fixing it.
