Nick Ferguson referred to that as a “Johnson Su BioReactor”. If you run out of spare fencing, a “GeoBin” composter is pretty much the same thing. They cost like $35 on Amazon and are way less of a pain in the ass than dealing with fencing.

I miss raising chickens. I raised Rhode Island Reds when I was a kid. So fun.

I started out using hay for my deep bedding system but found it was brutal to muck out in the spring as it forms an almost fiberglass like structure when layered with chicken manure. I think the hay might work better if it was run through a shredder/chipper before application but my location affords me access to fine sawmill planer chips. These cost less, provide a higher carbon ratio for hot manures(Like Chicken) and are much easier to remove in the spring/fall. How many chickens does it take to change a lightbulb? IDK but mine have figured out how to unscrew and move them into their laying boxes!

Very very ingeniously done... Is the water based mature/fertilizer distribution gravity fed to the locations of plants , and the top " ponding filled by pumps. If so where is the return flow coming from. I would love to draft a pipe/ flow schematic from that system. My pump is not powerful enough to lift the distance I would need to feed my bottom water feed system to the garden.

It is so simple I am not sure I understand the real question? This is a full over view may be it will make it more clear, odysee.com/@fortressk9:b/jacksduckpond:5

Question about permaculture. I thought that meant you moved the birds around to naturally fertilize then plant it the next season and move the birds again. Maybe I'm confusing that with something else.

You are describing a technique, vs a discipline. That is a permaculture technique not the design system that is permaculture.

Nice way to use the quail tractor.

I’m a moron on composting. Is there an issue with the nutrients washing out when it rains? Growing up we did our composting by putting it in a fenced area for a couple years. That’s always seemed inefficient but I know nothing about composting manure.

I assume you don’t have fish in that pond? I don’t think you’ve show us this system after the build unless I missed it.

I have a rooster that looks just like your pretty multicolored “nice” one. Got him from the Amish. Don’t know what breed(s) he is. What is yours? He is the most gentle easy going rooster I ever had. My husband says that he learned it from the Amish since they don’t believe in conflict :)

Chop and drop is even less labor-intensive.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with bedding from a coop, as in absolutely zero.

@@survivalpodcasting You seem a little tense. Understandable under these circumstances.
@survivalpodcasting2 жыл бұрын
@@tangobayus why is making a factual statement a sign of being tense? Chop and drop is a strategy employed with plants/trees growing in the ground. It does not apply to this video or what is happening here, at all. Sorry you seem like the typical person who has done far more video watching than actually doing anything in the field.
