Well sir Wooly, considering its been through three brothers and sitting in a shed. I think it started fairly well. My first saw was a Poulan Pro PP4218A made by Husqvarna as well. Very similar to that McCulloch but the powerhead was more yellow. One of the last years before they made Poulan Pro and McCulloch almost identical. I bought it in August 2014. It had a 42cc engine, 18 inch bar, 3/8'' low profile semi- chisel chain and a .050 gauge bar. I had it for three years. I sold it my best friends who modify the muffler and still runs today. I kind of wish I kept it but I don't miss it. I went to a used Husqvarna 340 with a 41cc engine and 16 inch bar. Its runs the infamous .325 pinch chain. A beefier more solid, heavy and better built powerhead. I've never looked back! That secured my place with Husqvarna and the love of orange!

Very similar to my story, it's not a bad saw, I'd say it was unused for a few years before I got it back

I've just came in from the garage after tuning the carb on my 340. Sounds like your H screw needs turned anti clockwise about a quarter turn or so. The 340 needs the splined driver to adjust that screw, not sure about yours though. Love your channel!

Hehe - I have a McCulloch 842 that I got used. The engine is running really well, but I have a problem with the chain tension. It just does not hold the tension on the chain for more than a few cuts. For some reason I like the saw - although the cutting performance is not that great with its 3/8H 1,3mm. Will give it a good cleaning and take a look at what might be causing the issue with the tension. Anna
@WoolysWorld2 жыл бұрын
Nice, you might be able to replace the tension system for a normal one

@@WoolysWorld yes, I already saw that as a spare. For the price of half a chinese saw that is 😂so I first try if I can figure out something how to fix it because I would like to avoid spending a fortune on spares that are difficult to obtain for this saw. I can not see any obvious defects on the tensioning system so I will have another go at it

Their just not great, I've never seen a good one, on any saw

@@WoolysWorld my first saw that I ever run was a 42cc Craftsman/poulan, it was a decent cutter but it would start and stall alot when I bought my new saw I gave the old one away. I don't think did him a favor

No idea

Used same model saw for 4 years modified with a couple of drill holes at back of air filter also enlarged exhaust opening had no issues whatsoever so yes it's the operator maintenance that's the problem not the saw .

hi woolly, i hope you have a nice day. i think if the air filter is clean and an extra hole in the exhaust it would run even better.

Wooly, clean ip that saw, and tune it!, a side from that is messing with air flow, but the cain doesn’t sound like it is true in the bar or sprocket, or something is rubbing in the clutch housing!, other then that, should make a nice little pruning saw! Probably the same a the poulan 3016 here in the USA, also a Husqvarna build!
