Some cats buck the trend. My 18-pound Maine Coon didn't get any smaller when wet; it just illustrated that he was a cinder block on legs. The fur anti-aliased his outline :D (I have, however, worked with Persians. With most of those, getting them wet turns them into some kind of Looney Tunes character, just a conical pile of wet hair with eyeballs on top.)

I wish you could have seen my last rescue, Toddle, the day I kidnapped him from a parking lot. He was grey, covered in fleas, thin but bloated with worms, and had a UTI. He weighed less than two pounds and smelled like the inside of an engine bay. I gave him a bath and discovered he's a dilute orange and white tabby. He's since caught up with his growth and has no UTI. And he's discovered laps are the place to be.

My SIL’s cats were week old rescues. They didn’t groom. We let them hang out with a neighbour’s female cat for a bit and she taught them to clean themselves. Without her, we wouldn’t have been able to do it. We spoiled that Mumma well!!

My girl cat is longer-haired, and as a kitten, she would NOT wash her butt😭 She used to get big dingleberries that needed removing. She also had a very stinky butt, the first stinky cat I’d ever met. Thankfully, she picked up grooming as she got older, and now at 2yrs, she is ALWAYS washing herself. Hoping this adorable lil man also realizes he’s a cat & there’s certain cleanliness expectations to meet as he gets older lol

luckily he seems fairly easy to handle so as long as he’s even half this good for his owners at home it shouldnt be too awfully difficult for them to keep him maintained between professional grooms. his temperament is insanely good for a kitten lol

He's a shaded golden. The dark color you see is the black tipping. Every hair is tipped. The color itself is old, but ages ago it was considered a fault. These cats were created during breeding programs for the shaded silvers. Golden chinchillas are similar, bur with less tipping. (Jan Griffiths).

Having cats now and having been a cat & dog owner most of my life I wonder if he got enough time with his mother. Kittens that don't get enough time with Mama don't get to learn to groom themselves properly. He was absolutely adorable and Thank You for putting your mic by his purrs.😊 It was so funny. He plotted his escape nearly the whole time and then when he was done he was like " Let Me Out. I want to play with you." You do need some cat toys. Great distraction for kittens. 💕🐈🐈‍⬛

My cat will be 2 next month and is the most unusual cat to join our family. No one wanted her at the pound due to some small prior health issues. Fast forward to now....she's not food motivated!! I've had 4 previous cats, not including the foster kitties, and she's the only to want dry kibble in her bowl. We tried and tried to make the switch but nope. Unfortunately she is sick. I'm reading through all the comments to see if anyone is a vet/vet assistant. I took her in on Wednesday and she's actually doing worse. I'm calling tomorrow as soon as they open.
