In Jane Austen’s “Emma” they play a game with letter tiles when they are on a picnic during which Mr. Churchill spells out the word “ blunder” for Miss Fairfax. I think the mystery tile could be one of those type of tiles!

I live in Canada so finding a bunch of glass bottle stops isn't something we can usually do but I did inherit a bunch and found a few more at flea markets. (boot or jumble sales) I didn't know what to do with them but, because I make and collect jewellery, I figured out a repurposed use. I picked up 2 round glass hot plates one slightly smaller than the other. I used aquarium silicon adhesive to attach various glass stoppers onto them, pointy end up. I spaced them so the tallest ones were evenly dispersed across the larger hot plate. I then used the remaining sundry sized ones ones to cover the smaller hot plate and fill in the bare spaces of the larger one. The end result are a couple of glass rounds covered in glass "spikes" that can be stacked, small on large. I use the spikes to hold all of the rings I have that need repair as well as the various bands in their various states of repair or making. It allows me to keep organized as well as negating the need to put pieces away every time I stop to do other things. A real time saver that lets me see at a glance what pieces I have on hand, what silver or gold bits I need to buy as well as what shape/sized stones I may need to keep an eye out for. I suspect the same idea could be used on a wall to hang bracelets and necklaces.

I found a 1902 pottery advertisement on ebay for James A Cox at 42 Old Compton Street. It was for Whiskey Urns ( a type of lamp) that could be piped for electric or gas.

I think you've nailed it . That little thing might just be one of the rarest and most obscure items I've seen them find. It could be measured and copied for restoration work perhaps, as it might be the only known example. Lamps from that era are very expensive. Some Tiffany examples are over a million dollars. Not the same, but still on the radar!

I researched scrabble tiles, but they were made of wood and then plastic, and it wasn't invited till 1939 in New York.

I have had trouble with quickly knowing left from right too, & when I once mentioned it in a comment online a couple of years ago, somebody else turned out to have the same trouble for the same reason. Therefore, I am mentioning this just in case it applies to Fleur, although I’m not sure that she’s old enough to have this sort of history. I’m 63 y/o, & when I was at primary school back in the 1960’s (in Australia), we were forced to use our right hands to write with, rather than naturally use our left hands, or alternate our use of hands, if we were ambi-dexterous. Being forced to use my right hand has made me - & the other past commenter (at the very least) - “chronically confused” (as you so aptly mentioned) - about which is left & which is right, unless given plenty of time to figure it out. 😂 I also sometimes kind of do the gestures of writing with my hands (unobtrusively) to help me figure out which is which, but I still get it wrong, especially if having to say quickly or with no advanced warning.😊 Back in older times, the right hand was the “good” hand, & the left was “sinister”, belonging to witchcraft or the devil or such, & the custom carried on even when it had lost the meaning behind it. I don’t think they do this anymore, which is good.😅

Your tile looks like it might be out of either a small kiln, a live steam model railway engine, or, what's left of an electrical fuse after the steel part has rusted away. The thing that makes me think "kiln" is that it's curved.

Could the mystery find actually be the key to a cash register? I was also wondering if the marbles could be bullets for muskets? I actually am doubtful, because it does seem that your finds have to do with games, so maybe they are game marbles. But I just wondered if there might be a possibility of being a musket ball. I suppose though if it were metal, it might be unlikely to wash ashore? Anyway thanks for the fun video!
