Where I worked making pizza the jukebox was always going and I swear that people would play Blue Jean Blues as much as the A side!! Great ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan story: In the late 70's Stevie was was starting to make noise in the Texas area and ZZ Top was playing a gig in Austin and needed an opener. Their manager had heard of an up an up and Coming Stevie Ray Vaughan so he booked him, sight unseen. 10 minutes into Stevie's set Billy Gibbons walked up to his manager and said "If you EVER book someone like that to open for us again you're f**king fired." Stevie and Billy became good friends from then on. :)

This song illustrates why those of us in the know consider Rev. Billy F. Gibbons one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He has such great feel, dynamics, tone, and restraint. Like many of the great blues guitarists (e.g. BB King) he says as much with the notes he doesn't play as the ones he does.

Billy Gibbons (vocals and Guitar, is one of the great Blues men in the world. He met and toured with "The Jimi Hendrix Experience "in 1967 when Hendrix was on his way to London England. He asked the young 20-year-old Gibbons and Bandmates to be the opening act for him. They (ZZ Topp) did, and a close friendship and guitar brotherhood was formed between Billy Gibbons, and Jimi Hendrix. Unfortunately, we know Jimi passed a couple of years later. But these two were great guitarists and good buddies, at least for a few years until Jimi died.

ZZ Top - I saw them 4 times in the mid 70's when they came to the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. On one occasion I was sitting in the middle at stage level. The sound was piercing my ears so I went down and headed behind the seats. Back in the day we could smoke inside and my eyes were burning. The closer i got to the doors my eyes stared burning more and more. Then I saw them. A line of police in riot gear headed to the doors. Tear Gas had been deployed outside.

saw them in 95 or 96 won Tix and the show was on my bday. Spokane cow palace they were the last show ever there it was being torn down in the next couple months. HOLES in the roof and it was pouring rain on sections of the crowd. they never missed a beat. that place was crazy falling apart. it made me think of the blues brothers when they're tearing pieces off the organ that ray Charles was playing. anyway it was my 3rd and last time seeing them. you can't get a better sound or show outta just 3 guys. 3 boxes came down from the what's left of ceiling the fronts blew of the crates "Jesus just left Chicago" into fuzz box voodoo onto a giant treadmill and we were off. I've seen hundreds of shows from the stones at the L.A. colosseum to Madonna in red rocks and everywhere anyone but that night with a building falling down around them was the most amazing show I've ever seen. it was so powerful it was like with every drum beat or guitar strum a block of concrete came down. ssd we lost one of them. I did see billy on tour with fogerty years back just not the same

I haven't heard that in so long and it totally put me in a trance. For something that is a total banger and if I remember correctly it's from the Same album, and it was a hit for them: Heard It On The X. It's one of the greatest rock riffs ever and they are trading lead vocals and it is just incredible and apparently it's fairly autobiographical. It's talking about the music that they're nostalgic for that they heard his little kids listening to regional radio at night in Texas.

Billy gibbons on lead vocal. This is the good old ZZ Top before they started going commercial. Like I said before you want to get to know a band look at the stuff that they did before they got popular and listen to what made them popular. I recommend listening to "Manic Mechanic" and "Chevrolet". Cheers

Damn! That sounded so good on the phone I got to go hear it again on the big Yamaha and Polk Audio system. Thank you RSR for reminding me how good we had it back then. Gonna need Just Got Paid too before I get back to reality.

The Jimi Hendrix T-shirt is very appropriate for this tune. Billy Gibbons the lead guitar was really good friends with Hendrix. I saw an interview with Gibbons talking about how the two met. Gibbons was in a band that opened for Hendrix in 1969. One night the band was coming off the stage before Hendrix came on. Gibbons had included two Hendrix songs in their show. As Gibbons came off stage Hendrix was waiting for him, and said "You got balls. I like that." From that moment on they were friends until Hendrix died.

This is stunning. Never heard this one before. Love the slow burn blues vibe. I'll just add, one of your favorite bands Fleetwood Mac has songs like this too... Including nearly 7 minutes of Need Your Love So Bad and another 7 minutes of Worried Dream. Also (a bit shorter): Love That Burns and World in a Tangle 💙💚 From the late '60s when they were as bluesy as you could get.

So glad you guys got into a slower bluesy ZZ Top song! They included one on each record that they released up till about 1977. They're more versatile than known!
