Billy Gibbons. Damn. That man can put some feeling into his notes! Cool fact is that he had a guitar made from the floorboards of Muddy Waters’s plantation shack.

One of my absolute favorites!! Glad you liked it too. 😊✌️ Edited to add: I took my blues guitar playing son to the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale MS on his 15th birthday and we got to see the famous Muddywood guitar. Billy Gibbons had it made from wood taken from the house where Muddy Waters was born. It was a friggin awesome day. 😊✌️♥️

DSE: It doesn't matter if anyone understands what you are saying............because you hit that right in the heart. Awesome man. I'm older than dirt....just an old Southern white dude........raised on THE BLUES. I keep hoping for a resurgence of the REAL Blues......funk and all......but the youngsters who are trying save it today have some talent.....but no stank. I'll go to my grave hanging on to Ms. Etta James, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and yes, SRV and Double Trouble, and Z.Z. Top........damn "BROWN SUGAR"......what a song. Always will have the memories.......for what time I have left. D.......keep posting your stuff.

what makes this so great as far as guitar playing goes is Billy's use of dynamics. From soft to loud attack back to soft, using double stops and blistering runs...it just builds and builds..without the dynamics, it would be just another blues song instead of a legendary blues song! If you need a master class on a perfect blues guitar, look no further than this recording.

Ive been trying to get other reaction people to do this song for the longest time, and you did it ! ! As a self taught guitarist, I made this song required learning because if you could learn this song note for note your mastery of the blues is almost guaranteed. This song has to be one of my top 3 blues guitar songs. Might I suggest Johnny Winter's "You keep saying your leaving". This is another of my top 3 blues guitar songs . . . . . again, required learning ! ! Yeah, you can betch yo ass on this one here ! ! Thanks my man. A thumbs up and a scribe for ya ! !

Early ZZ Top is all about the blues mixed in with a little Tex boogie . How funky can it be try “Waitn’ For the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago “ ( played together. A sound editor error allowed only about a tenth of a second between the cuts. Greatest error in recording history but it worked out perfectly). For some more funky blues by ZZ Top go with “Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell”.

Jimi Hendrix knew. He yanked a young 21 year old Billy Gibbons out of a Texas Bar one night while "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" was about ready to tour Europe. He asked those young ens called "ZZ Topp to be the opening act. Jimi and Billy hit it off, and that was their big break in 1968 I think. Hendrix was already a star over there when he went in 1967. I love Rock history. Most of these bands are connected in some way.

AS has been mentioned 70's ZZ Top is the best, the 80's was nothing but going for the hook to sell albums. Nothing wrong with that. Once in a while they would throw out with these albums some old time feel, damn drawing a blank something like My Head is in Mississippi. I'm sure others will correct the name for me unless I remember all of a sudden. LOL. Peace
