Haven’t watched a ton of old Bond reactions because I haven’t seen a ton of old Bond films, but I watch Jen’s because they are so fun, even if I haven’t seen the movie, which I rarely watch reactions of movies I haven’t seen. But having just watched a Gen Z reactor clutch his pearls at Blazing Saddles this morning, I’m totally with you.

Fun fact, the actor playing Tibbits, Patrick Macnee, also played one of the best known secret agents through out the 60's. He was John Steed on The Avengers, a British TV show not unlike Bond. Although Steed had a female partner, Emma Peel, played by Diana Riggs, Mrs. Bond from OHMSS. It was a great show

The Avengers, one of the best in spy shows on TV. The Man With The Golden Gun paying homage when Christopher Lee's character played a shooting game in his house of fun. Also, Patrick McNee had the actress who played Kitty Galore in Goldfinger before Diana Rigg. A movie you should check out with Rigg starring with Vincent Price is Theater Of Blood (1973) and a fun fact with this, Price was host to a show called Masterpiece Mystery in the 80s. When Price left hosting he HIGHLY recommended Diana Rigg to host next in which she did.

There were multiple actors who crossed over between The Avengers and Bond. Before Emma Peel, Steed was partnered by Cathy Gale, played by Honor Blackman who went on to play Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. There was also a 70s revival, The New Avengers, in which Joanna Lumley played Purdey, having previously played one of the women at the clinic in OHMSS. Finally, in a (terrible) 90s film version, the villain was played by Sean Connery.

@@scottjo63 There was another Avengers star who was in a bond girl. (Well The New Avengers") Joanna Lumly had a small role in OHMSS as one of Blofeld's Angels of Death. Although, unlike Rigg & Honor Hlackman, she did Bond before the Avengers. Another interesting Diana Rigg movie is The Assassination Bureau (1969) which also featured Telly Savalas, her co-star from OHMSS (also 1969 - she got more than her share of Kojak that year) and Kurt Jurgens, who would later be Stromberg in The Spy Who Loved Me.

The Avengers was a fantastic Spy-Fi series! I believe Moore and Macnee knew each other during those years because they likely worked on the same sound stages when Moore was filming The Saint. There are many actors and actresses who worked on both The Avengers and Bond. A few i can think of off the top of my head: Silvia Trench - the woman Bond gets interrupted with in the first two Bond films - was played by Eunice Gayson, who had a prominent part in the Avengers episode "The Quick Quick Slow Death." Julian Glover - Christatos in For Your Eyes Only - appeared in a couple of Avengers episodes playing different characters. Steven Berkoff - General Orlov in Octopussy - is a baddie in the Avengers episode "The Gravediggers." Robert Brown - "M" from Octopussy through License to Kill - was in the Avengers episode "The Town of No Return " ... and in the movie we just watched, the monocle-wearing mad scientist accompanying Zorin was played by Willoughby Gray, who appeared in the Avengers episode "You'll Catch Your Death" .... and there are many, many others.

One of the best Sir John Barry’s scores for sure! Even with an older Bond, this film is fun and totally in an 80’s mood. Chris Walken and Grace Jones are memorable villans in the series. And the theme song (with Duran Duran) is a classic for Bond’s fans. The lovely (and sadly late) Tanya Roberts was the last of the original Charlie’s Angels, Tv series.

The actor that played Tibbett is Patrick Macnee who played John Steed on the the tv show The Avengers in the early to mid 1960's and the New Avengers in the mid 1970's. At about the same time (early to mid 60's) Roger Moore was playing Simon Templar on the tv show The Saint. I remember watching those shows on tv as a kid, and loved them both.

Good catch. This was prior to most people ever hearing of snowboarding. The snowboards that were most common at the time were named "Snurfers." (The name was a portmanteau of "snow surfer.")They were invented by a guy named Sherm Poppen in Muskegon, Michigan in the 1960s and was originally made by breaking the tail fin off of a waterski and putting staples in the top so the board would be able to be gripped by boot treads. It had a rope attached to the front end and the rider would grip the rope while riding. Interestingly, I live right up the road from the garage where the first commercially available Snurfer was made here in Muskegon.

While I enjoy the Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton and especially the Pierce Brosnan Bonds (and endure Roger Moore's), I actually think Daniel Craig is the best since Connery. Yeah, he took the franchise in a darker, more dramatic direction, but three of Craig's five Bond films are absolutely brilliant (and Quantum of Solace and Spectre aren't bad, they're just not as good as the other three). I mean, Casino Royale was just a great *film* , with outstanding writing and acting, Skyfall was even more fantastic, and they would be even if they had nothing to do with James Bond.

Action star Dolph Lundgren made his acting debut in A View To A Kill as Venz the tall blonde bodyguard of General Gogol and it was a cameo but he would star in Rocky 4 the same year as Ivan Drago as Rocky’s (Sylvester Stallone’s) nemesis. Dolph Lundgren was dating Grace Jones at time of A View To A kill being filmed and released and she starred as May Day.

During the filming of this movie, Moore decided it would definitely be his last for a number of reasons. Prime among them was his age-he had to rely more on stunt doubles and he learned he was older than the lead actress’s mother. Additionally, the increasing violence bothered him. Though he never admitted it until after filming ended, he found Grace Jones difficult to work with.

This is the first and only James Bond film where we are Christopher Walken as a Bond villain. This is also the acting debut of Dolph Lungdren as a Henchman. David Bowie was the first choice to play the villainous Max Zorin, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with LIVE AID July 1985 and the fantasy adventure musical LABYRINTH released July 1986. Roger Moore was 57 when they made this movie, making him the oldest Bond in the film franchise.

@@JedHead77 A small cameo part is Dolph Lundgren, just before he became famous as Drago in Rocky IV. He was one of the KGB Body guards with General Gogol when he confronted Zorin at the race track. He is silent and basically just stands there. The reason why he was in the film is that he was dating Grace Jones and visited her on the set and the director thought he would make an imposing body guard.

Since you are Canadian you might like to know the mansion featured in the shootout scene was Dunsmuir House, built for the son of Robert Dunsmuir, coal, railroad and real estate baron of Vancouver Island. A Vancouver street is named after him and extant Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria is a significant historic building as well. Another son James was Premier of British Columbia.

This Bond film holds a special place in my heart. Its probably my most viewed Bond film, I had a vhs of it I lost count of how many times I rewatached it as a kid. Even though Walken is very cringe or over the top, he's brilliant. And the opening song by Duran Duran is one of the best of them all (biased but don't care). Also fun fact the opening is shot around Jökulsárlón just next to Vatnajökull glacier here in Iceland. Plus there are a couple more Bond films shot here as well.

Jen, it might be a good idea to check out Never Say Never Again before the Dalton movies. NSNA was a one-off as a result of a complicated lawsuit settlement--a competing producer was allowed to do a Bond movie based on the Thunderball storyline, which was updated for the 80s. They hired back Connery, and released it at about the same time as Octopussy. It's missing the music, the gun barrel sequence, and had a totally different cast and crew. The premise is Bond was retired and they are bringing him back. I think it's inferior to the Eon Pictures productions, but it does have its moments. In the Living Daylights--they change up a lot. Dalton is a very different Bond--more serious, but tall and dark, and very convincing in the physicality of his role, and as a tough hero. Not as good with the quips though. They change out the actors in the supporting roles--Lois Maxwell and Moore of course, are gone. Only Q remains, and many of the back up crew, such as the writers, set designers, and such, all were replaced. I liked TLD, but not it's 1989 follow-on, License to Kill. I thought the 2nd Dalton was too dark, but some people consider it the best Bond. Then there was the biggest gap ever in the Bond franchise--1989 to 1995 before Pierce Brosnan started. I would have loved to see two more Dalton films in that time--a great lost opportunity.

The guy who invented snowboarding actually did that stunt in the opening and as far as I know it was the first time snowboarding was ever depicted in a movie. So this is pretty much the exact beginning of that sport. That's also why they added the Beach Boys song to it. Cause it would be easier for the audience to understand it as "surfing on snow/ice".

Dalton was approached to play Bond before Moore, but Dalton didn't feel he was old enough to play Bond. Dalton played Prince Barton in the Flash Gordon movie, 1980 or 1981.. and he played the supermarket owner in Hot Fuzz

Christopher Walken recommendations: The Dead Zone (1983) Directed by your fellow Canadian David Cronnenberg and based on the novel by Stephen King. Academy Award Winners for Best Picture of 1977 and 1978 were Annie Hall and The Dear Hunter, respectively. Walken appears in both. In Annie Hall, he appears briefly, but very memorably, in a couple of scenes. Walken won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Deer Hunter. This Vietnam era drama stars Robert DeNiro. I believe it was Meryl Streep's first film .

Late to this reaction, but this is my favorite Roger Moore Bond film. Haven't yet read other comments, so I hope it hasn't been pointed out yet. The asian henchwoman might be Lucy Liu. The blond henchwoman is Allison Doody who starred as one of the Nazis in The Last Crusade opposite Indiana Jones. And of course, as always, I am here for Jen's tremendous reactions!

I can’t wait for you to experience Timothy Dalton’s Bond. My absolute favourite and Licence to Kill is my favourite Bond movie. Also, this was the first Bond movie I saw in the cinema, it has a special place in my heart.

Thank you so much for walking us through the Moore / Bond era… You increased my appreciation of these films 10 fold. When I was a young Bond fan I was virtually praying for a more serious direction and Dalton’s casting meant so much to me. He invents the Bond the Craig ultimately perfects. I love the next two films. I hope you will too!

Best Moore Bond. It gets more intense from here with less quips and increasing action. Dalton was good, didn't really get a fair shake. Brosnan does a great job too but my fav is Connery closely followed by Brosnan then Craig. Another excellent reaction Jen. That's going to be some Bond World Tour you'll be going on!

Well Jen you made it to the final Roger Moore Bond film❤your non stop enthusiasm. Christopher Walking is in so many great movies, such as the Deer Hunter alongside Robert De Niro. I'd recommend you watch him in a film called The Dead Zone adapted from a Stephen king book. It's riveting with a great love story.Take care👍💓🇬🇧

Fun facts: „Jenny Flex“ would go on to be Elsa four years later in Indiana Jones III…Zorin originally was to be played by David Bowie. If you love this soundtrack, just wait till you hear John Barry‘s score to The Living Daylights! This is the end of the Roger Moore era, but he will always be my favorite, as he‘s the Bond I grew up with. That being said, I love Timothy Dalton as 007! He was the first to really look and act as described in the novels! Can‘t wait for your reaction!

I've never been lucky enough to watch Bond movies with anyone who entered into the spirit of the things like you do. This is so much fun! It's gonna suck when you run out of Bond movies. 😐 You've probably seen Timothy Dalton in some stuff, he's been around forever. He made his debut in "The Lion in Winter" alongside Peter O'Toole, Katharine Hepburn, and Anthony Hopkins - that's a great movie that you need to check out, actually. He's MUCH better used as a character actor than a leading man - as in "The Rocketeer" and "Hot Fuzz." All sorts of behind the scenes issues, most of which weren't really anyone's fault, meant Dalton only did two films. He was just figuring out 'his' Bond when all concerned moved on.

There's a movie called Big Trouble(2002) with Tim Allen and a bunch of other famous actors. It's basically a heist/caper comedy and I think it would be totally up your alley. Ask your community, I guarantee you'll hear great things about it.

It was SO GOOD to see Patrick Macnee given a role after The Avengers to fulfil his natural fate which, in all reality, he was doing LONG before 007 came along - in The Avengers. If you ever thought of doing a series as part of this channel or another channel Jen, The Avengers would be a good start. It stared Patrick, and another Bond girl of note - Dianna Ring, from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. There are a number of channels doing older TV series, so you might give that some thought.

2 fun facts Jen, just recently I've been watching MYTH BUSTERS on Amazon & KZbin & one myth they busted was the breathing air from a tyre valve whilst under water (mind you, they where not trained British agents lol) 2'nd is that fire engine bridge jump is similar to something infamous that happened with a London double decker bus & Tower Bridge many many years ago (look it up)

Been trying to find a sketch from the Spitting Image puppet show that would have been filmed a year or so after this movie came out. In it, Timothy Dalton is featured collapsed in a theatre dressing room - medical assistance is summoned and the doctor pronounces it as as serious: "I found him like this doctor. He's completely lifeless. Stiff as a board. All he's able to do is wiggle his eyebroads." "It's serious then. You know what he's suffering from?" "You don't mean, sir?!" "Yes, he's got Roger Mortis."

As a 80's kid I'm definitely fond of the Roger Moore bond movies. Jen did the actress playing Jenny Flex look familiar? That was actress Alison Doody. She played the traitorous Blonde Elsa in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. There are lots of fantastic choices for Christopher Walken movies. I really like his genius father character in Blast from the past. From 1999 It a playful fun movie.

Diana Riggs, who portrayed his partner for part of the series, became Mrs. James Bond in "Her Majesty's Secret Service." Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, and Sean Connery starred in the 1998 movie adaptation of "The Avengers."

Hey Jen ;) Just wanted to tell you about the first mission impossible movie that it was a shocking plot twist for Jim Phelps, litterally the main character of the TV show became the bad guy and suppose to prepare the audience that anything can now happen in this franchise. I hope you will do a mission impossible reaction every 2 week like you did with James Bond :) Also, I suggest you to check "Leon the profesionnal" starring the actor who played Krieger the traitor who was piloting the chopper at the end with the train (Jean Reno) where he plays the main character (a hitman). Which is his best film and the best movie made by Luc Besson imo ^^ I would love to watch you react to it but try to get the "extented cut" for this one ;)

This was my introduction to Bond and, so, my favorite . I had already fallen in love with Tanya Roberts from Beastmaster, but this sparked my adoration for both Grace Jones and Christopher Walken. Even at the time, the fire engine scene was dumb, but I absolutely loved the blimp.

My favourite of all the Bond movies 😀 Lots of people seem to dislike Bond being close to retirement age in this movie (which is true enough) and less fightyfighty than suave (which is also true, but I actually like that style for his character). Walken - guy gets typecast, but hey, he always does a great villain. And let's be honest, suuuuuch a good Bond song (just never ever watch the music video). Great movie music in general throughout😃 Walken movies: "The deer hunter" is bound to be recommended by a lot of people, but I also love "At close range" - pretty underrated movie imho

Just echoing what others have said but I too am curious about what you'll think of Dalton's turn. Generally underrated but by most accounts the most faithful to Ian Fleming's character. I like his Bond. Only problem is there wasn't enough of him. If you liked the music here (I do as well; classic John Barry mixed with contemporary 80's) you'll love the music in The Living Daylights too. Barry's last score for Bond, but he goes out with a bang. They had the Bond formula down pat at this point so the next couple of movies are all pretty good.

Same. Although I didn't like Craig as Bond at first, but over the years he's since grown onto me. I grew up with Pierce Brosnan's Bond, but I played the video games during that era first before eventually getting into the actual films later on, which was a little weird.

A great villain who is a chilling psychopath and an over the top comic villain at once. He really sells 'evil genius' without being a Mad Engineer. I also like the diversion about horseracing, and that it manages to blend low key gadgets and spy work with a ridiculous evil plot and stays 'grounded' by Bond Standards through not threatening the world.
