If you shine a laser onto a pane of glass the reflected light will transmit the vibrations created by the people talking in the room. There was a great joke just after this movie came out, I think from a KZbinr, but it also feels like it could have been from an SNL skit. It was when Blofeld was listing all the bad things that had happened to Bond over the years, and saying that he and Spectre had been responsible for all of it. “The eggs you had for breakfast on June 10th, 1994 that were too runny? That was us…” 🤣
@petersvillage7447 Жыл бұрын
The casting of Andrew Scott as 'C' was quite... layered. At the time he was famous in the UK for playing Moriarty in the TV series 'Sherlock' - and in a lot of ways Professor Moriarty might be thought to be the original Blofeld-type villain, especially the version of Blofeld we see in Spectre, where he sits anonymously at the centre of a web of organised crime...

It is spectacularly entertaining and I think a Bond aficionado such as yourself would really enjoy it!

James Bond reminds me of so many things. I was a teen when I was electrified by the books. And the movies happened throughout my life. Beautiful women, luscious locations, fancy cocktails, bowler hats that kill, and many more. Now I can add Jen Murray to the list of Bond reminders.

Great job Jen! You missed the identity of the 'henchman'. Would you beliebe it was Dave Bautista? His one line was "Oh shit" before being pulled off the train! One other Easter egg to know about was the name of the safehouse back in London. It was called 'Hildebrand' which was part of the name of a Bond short story called 'The Hildebrand Rarity' (the plot of which formed the basis of Octopussy). Really enjoyed this one - onto the big Finale now....Hugs from Sweltering England.

The ending really surprised me, because it was the first james bond movie where the main villain got arrested in the end instead of killed. Sure, the old Blofeld survived a few movies, but he was always pressumed dead, Bond tried to kill him and he just got away somehow. This time, Bond actually decided to leave him alive. Except for this, Spectre feels like a very classical bond movie to me. We have one main villain with a big plan to take over the world, James Bond is travelling through various countries, following traces before eventually getting into the villain lair and blowing it up. Also, we have the classic team with Bond, M, Q and Moneypenny now. The first three movies with Daniel Craig were all very different. Casino Royale had the main villain killed not by Bond, but by his own organization, just to show Bond that there is actually a bigger plot going on. Quantum of Solace picked it up there, but didn't finish the story, instead there was a totally new villain and besides all this, James Bond had to deal with the loss of the woman he loved, which was also a new thing because in the old movies, the Bond girl from one movie was completely forgotten in the next one. And finally Skyfall came with a story more focused on M and a villain who was mainly seeking revenge. Spectre felt like "back to the roots" for me.

Fun fact! The torture scene in Blofeld's lair takes dialogue almost 100% directly from Colonel Sun, the first Bond novel written after Ian Fleming's death by Sir Kingsley Amis. It's the only non-Fleming novel that has had material featured in an EON James Bond movie (officially anyway, some links could be drawn to some of John Gardiner's Bond novels influencing some decisions made in the EON Bond films). There's even a thanks to the Amis estate in the credits at the end of the film. Also, you mentioned that part of the film resembled a level in Hitman. If you don't already know, IO Interactive, the developers of the Hitman series are currently working on a James Bond game. There's a short teaser trailer for it, but no gameplay as of yet.

If this was ever confirmed I haven't seen it, but I think when Bond tries to trigger a gadget in his car and the stereo starts playing "New York, New York," causing him irritation, it's an in-joke about one of the last Bond stories written by Ian Fleming, called "007 in New York." It's one of the only titles in Fleming's catalogue to never be used in a Bond movie; although part of the story was used for the ending of "Quantum of Solace." Any time a new Bond movie is rumored people wonder if it will be "007 in New York" but I always love him going to other countries and cities. It's almost like they're telling fans "It's a bad idea, stop asking!"

This installment was good for how much Bond's world was changing. Connecting these films and what threats await do become challenging. Sam Mendes was the 2nd director in Craig's era to make back to back films. The artistic liberties taken with the practical-ness of this have great ideas to keep things interesting through Interwoven storytelling. I never thought we'd see the faction of SPECTRE again on screen. The arch-nemesis of Bond and M16 in the original novels and first films. Christoph Waltz as Blofeld and Batista as his main muscle, Hinx was perfect. Even Blofeld's pet cat is a staple (wasn't expecting that). Actress/model Monica Bellucci (Lucia) was the oldest Bond girl ever at age 50 and infinitely gorgeous as always. Lea Seydoux as Madeline (M:I-4 Ghost Protocol, Blue Is The Warmest Color), the only girl in his life is a very rare kind of role and hasn't happened in the series since the late 1960s. The theme song by Sam Smith is wonderful and deserves every award it won. This would've been the last Bond film for Craig. He wasn't looking to play the role for awhile. Glad he did at least one more afterwards.

His will always be to best of the series in my eyes, but Craig's series is top notch. Love the whole run he did, even the less "popular" ones. It was so interesting seeing a take on Bond that was book-ended as its own thing (something I didn't know I needed but did), instead of just a perpetually updated-to-the-times movie every 5 years. And took the idea of what "Bond, James Bond" is into a legend status.

Why Goldeneye and Skyfall so low?
@DeweyFinn21 Жыл бұрын
@@samuelterry6354 Skyfall is a mediocre remake of The World Is Not Enough that removes everything interesting about it to make it bland. And Goldeneye is just massively outdated and boring.
@samuelterry6354 Жыл бұрын
@@DeweyFinn21 Ok fair enough that your opinion. Can't believe someone would say Goldeneye is boring; hard disagree. I wish the other Bronson film were actually closer in tone and pacing to Goldeneye.

Every one of your Bond reactions have been a joy. Can’t believe the journey is concluding! It’s like finishing a great massive book. What could come next that matches the scale!? How about every John Wayne movie? He basically plays the same character in all his films.

Mexico City didn't use to hold Día de Muertos parades, but they do now, because of this movie.

Wonderful reaction to Band as ever you fangirl Jen! And your comments on the music are just brilliant... The plot is O.H.M.S.S. with a flipped ending ;)

I remember during the whole promotion of this movie, Chrisoph Waltz was like "I'm not Bloefeld, I'm not Bloefeld". Then when the movie comes out "Psych! I am Bloefeld". I really don't see why the big secret.

❤❤❤ Well done, Ms. Moneyjenny. I can't believe that 24 are done. The song in this reminded me of THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. I'm going to weave a little tapestry. Back when Sean was James and Roger was the SAINT, Patrick Macnee was John Steed, one of the AVENGERS. When they got around to making the AVENGERS movie, Ralph played Steed. So he does actually have on-screen, field experience. I love how there is much discussion on the music in these movies. When soundtracks were on vinyl, I had them all. Still do. There are some great videos on the Bond movies songs and on the songs that were not selected for the movies. You might want to check them out. You may also want to see Daniel as a cowboy with a sexy lady vs. a not so nice Harrison Ford. COWBOYS AND ALIENS. Hug the beasties

They missed a _BIG_ trick in these opening credits. Where the chopper performs a loop-de-loop (4:39), they should have used a _slide whistle_ ...like they did in 'The Man with the Golden Gun' lol

I'd say that my biggest issue with the movie is how contrived it can sometimes feel. While it seems that the movie is trying to tie up loose ends as if this is intended to be the last Daniel Craig Bond movie (and it was at the time, as Craig was growing tired of Bond and wanted out), it seems to try too hard in that regard. It feels a bit too convenient that SPECTRE was behind everything since Casino Royale, but they turn Blofeld into Bond's adoptive brother to give them a familial connection that doesn't feel very necessary. It seems like too much of a stretch that the world's top espionage agent and the head of the world's biggest clandestine criminal organization would've known each other as children and had grown up together.

Blofeld became what he is because of Bond. Bond himself inadvertently created his ultimate adversary.
