My chi Buster Boo use to love the deer and they liked him too he would try to sneak off with them and i would have to call him back, he would come but he really loved the babies 😊 the same mama would have her babies along the back of our barn.

Native Virginian here, though have never been to Fairy Stone State Park. But I have been to Roanoke and Wytheville many times. Depending which way you're going, if you like history, Monticello is worth a stop.

Love VA. Beautiful state! Fairy Stone State Park. Stone crystals are very pretty. Should check the age for retirement discount. Might be 55 or 60 year. Love the sound of the fall. To me that is so relaxing.

Great to see your still rolling around, along. Every time I catch up with you your someplace I wish I was. Whenever your in Phoenix again have a meet up I’d love to talk with you about life on the road. I had a van with most of my alterations in place then the pandemic and of course a new transmission. I toke that blow but when it needed another one in a year & half I thought I might need to rethink my van choice 😩😵‍💫. The saga continue’s , safe travels.

Welcome to Virginia, my home state. Yes the state parks are nice but expensive. Near Fairystone is a COE campground which is nice & you can use your National park discount card. If you head south on I81 near Marion are some National Park campgrounds where you can use your discount pass. They are part of the George Rogers National Recreation Area. I am especially fond of Raccon Run campground where the prices are very nice. Safe travels. Thank you for a really nice video. I'm headed south & west after Christmas. Virginia has so much beauty, diversity, and history. You could easily spend weeks there exploring unusual nooks and crannies. The Appalachian Mtns. have folklore and superstition all their own. Nice video!

I live in Patrick County. Our favorite campground is an Army Corp campground just a short drive away from Fairy stone. Next time through our area check out Goose Point Campground. Fees are lower at the Army Corp campgrounds compared to the State parks

I live near a corner of Md, Va and WVA. Virginia gas is usually cheaper til you drive through the money towns and cities😄. I’m in Md but only 5 miles from that corner where Harper’s Ferry is. I live on one side of the Potomac River and across the bridge in our town is Virginia.

Yeah, Sadie could get hurt badly chasing deer. They have really sharp hooves. I had a Beagle that loved to chase them, and she got the side of her head skinned once. She never chased them again. Hard lesson.

Love those little roads you are going on instead of the interstate! How are you finding free camping out east? My dog and I both have orange vests for hunting season. Fairy Stone State Park - love the name:) Where did you find Sadies seat cover? Fun. I love mostly empty campgrounds in the fall. $40 per night in the off season??? Yikes. If you travel down the Blue Ridge Parkway, there are a lot of interesting attractions. Mabry’s Mill was right in my “backyard” growing up. OMG! I used to live about 5 miles from Fairystone Park! I lived in Patrick County for the first 33 years of my life. Also (although I know you’ve already moved on), there is a small gas station on Rt 57 about 3-5 miles east of Fairystone Park where you can walk the trail behind it & find Fairystones everywhere on the ground.

Check out the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Skyline Drive, too, equally beautiful. We have several caverns throughout the state (Dixie, south of Roanoke, Natural Bridge and the Caverns at Lexington, Luray Caverns in Luray, and the Skyline Caverns; I'm sure there are others but, I can't think of them.) I was born near Fairy Stone Park and have lived in Virginia most of my 66 years. Within a few miles is the Philpott Dam and Philpott Lake where my Daddy threw me in and told me to sink or swim. (He meant well. I managed to swim, obviously. LOL). My ancestors have been in Virginia since the 1600s and I couldn't imagine ever leaving for good. I love Virginia. In recent years, Virginia has become famous for its wineries; some are prizewinning and internationally famous. In Northern Virginia, there are 20 or more and I've performed wedding ceremonies at most of them. Virginia is the 10th state (actually one of the four Commonwealths) to join the union and is rich with history of the Civil War and other famous events.
