I'm from Indy. It's always driven me crazy that the only thing our state is known for is a racetrack. We also happen to be known for brick field-houses and gigantic tenderloins. The upper half of the state is flat cornfields but the southern half is beautiful. It's a pretty friendly state and Indianapolis is easily top 5 for convention hosting. Affordable cost of living and it makes you appreciate the beauty in everywhere else you travel. The Fashion Mall and Castleton Square Mall are right next to each other and are thriving, but they also happen to be in the middle of the wealthiest suburbs in the state. Sadly the other malls are starting to get a carnie feel with all the business being done from the kiosks instead of the stores.

I’m from Indy, moved here from California and I don’t miss anything from Cali. Hoosiers are very nice and sensible, you can find good food, housing is very affordable with rent being anywhere from 500 a month in a run down apartment to 2500 to live downtown on the canal. You can get a descent 3 bedroom house for 150k. You have access to all major sports, concerts, musicals and plays. Indianapolis is very diverse and tolerant. It’s also a test market so you will be one of the first in the nation to get new technology and stores. Yet it still manages to have a small town midwestern feel even though it’s HUGE. It gets a lot of rain and is very green and beautiful. The downside it is a major city so crime and traffic can be high. The legislation is not progressive at all and can be downright shady at times. The government values employer rights over employee rights. The weather can be ridiculous( tornadoes, heavy snow and wind, subzero temps in winter and 90 degrees with 90% humidity in summer) Plus and minus is the wildlife, they are many pretty birds, raccoons, coyotes deer, skunks, possums, stouts, a huge variety of bugs. With that wildlife you have to be prepared and deals with nuisances from them. Overall it’s actually a pretty relaxing and enjoyable place to live.

I remember the Bazaar very well. It was a very rugged looking multi-story building that kind of reminded me of the lodge at a ski resort. The biggest issue it had (and I'm sure was the cause of its' doom) was the way it was laid out. You had to walk up and down a few steps to get in and out of every store and it led you through every store. Think how IKEA leads you through every department by the way their stores are laid out, making sure you don't miss a single department. The difference with the Bazaar was that each store had a few steps coming in and going out of the store so it was not handicap accessible in any way. You also could seldom see the other stores until you were actually in them, so there was no way to draw the eye to the other retailers to either know if you would rather go there or if you could get to the store you came for. It was a cool concept but a stupid one at the same time.

It looks pretty bland and definitely has high end stores I couldn’t afford. But it’s good to see a mall that’s doing well. I haven’t seen a Gap in years! My sister used to shop there in the 80’s.

The mall was ok. It didn’t look very busy when you were there. If you ever go to California, you should check out the Westminster Mall in Westminster California. I believe it is dying a slow and painful death. I used to hang out there.

Is there a reason half of the lights around the mall are burnt out?! Even Northbrook Court has all their lights working.

Whenever you get a chance you should check out Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne Indiana, that at mall is still thriving.

I'm so freaking broke so I guess I wouldn't shop here but it was still nice to see this place.😊 Also I thought you hated Hull Malls more than Cafaro Malls. Ok, now I know. Guess I was wrong. Good to see another video from you once again.🙂

This is a good video from the late 70's/early 80's that discusses development in the Keystone area and shows interior and exterior shots of the old Bazaar. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJy3ZZh9bZqbjMk

Do you know a dead mall discord server (that isn’t DMOD) that I can use?

Short answer: No. Long Answer: Since many have prioritized their political agendas over malls, and others have gotten into fights over small and petty things, I've seen it fit to distance myself from retail nerds & mall enthusiasts as a whole. It's hard to enjoy something when most of the people involves are too busy pissing and moaning, or spitting on you for not towing their agenda.

This mall is too bland for me and I also don't hate it, but you still covered this mall very well. I noticed the length of driving in the introduction was a little too short, but that's ok. I just prefer when the driving lasts a little bit longer.🚘⛽🚦

I've been watching these Indianapolis mall videos and nice to see this one featured. To honest and this is my opinion only, I feel the only thing that makes this mall significant are the high-end stores. It's a nice atmosphere for an Indianapolis mall, even that the others are dying off. As far as Indiana, I've lived here many years and I've seen many spots that were booming with a lot of activity and now those places are dying off. I've said the same thing you did about the Motor Speedway. Besides NBA and NFL, and all of the races at the IMS, there seems to be nothing of any major attraction in which someone should come here and especially people from overseas. I must still say that living here, there are nice areas to just sit relax and hang out. There are things to do and depending on the season you may find some attractions and some nice hangout spots. Decent restaurants and such. Things that are nice for people who live here, but not something that is necessarily worth coming to Indiana for. lol So I have observed something that I don't know the answer to, but maybe it's just as simple as different country and different cultures, but because my fiancé is Philippine, I have been there twice, and seeing our malls seeming to be dying off here in Indianapolis, in the Philippines they are building mall after mall after mall in which mean are mega malls. These things are jam packed with people and you can very easily get lost in these malls. Even our fashion mall here has MUCH fewer shoppers walking the floors than the malls in the Philippines. I'm sure thought it has something to do maybe with interests and perhaps how our shopping methods may be shifting. I'm also quite curious how malls in other parts of the America are doing compared to Indiana.

1st. I guess it wouldn't be a high end mall without an Apple Store?

So many false claims in this video. Not an accurate depiction of the history of the Fashion Mall ........a joke of a "documentary"😢. It used to be a great place to shop and cruise.
