I think saks fifth avenue is on its way out at this location. The second floor was closed off and merchandise was spread around to make it look like they had more than they actually did. It reminded me of a closing sears

I live just up the road from this mall. Its dying a slow death. It was huge when it came out. The nice restaruants that were there at the entrance closed its doors. Really nice inside but it just cant last. The riff raff customer base has increased dramatically causing the spoiled north raleigh types to look elsewhere for their shopping needs.

It's not so much "heaven forbid [people] have to see nature" as it is that North Carolina is HOT for a significant part of the year, making that big open "lifestyle center" a very uncomfortable hike. (Also, that strip down the middle used to have a water feature resembling a little creek; that was shut off years ago though.)

Next time you're in Raleigh, you should hit up North Hills. North Hills Mall in Raleigh was a dead mall back in the early 2000s (Crabtree Mall crushed it) and most of it was demolished and the area was turned into a posh retail area. It would be interesting to show what can be created out of the ruins of a formerly dead mall.

It's definitely in the wrong mall. Should be in Crabtree or Southpoint! And they don't have the same hours as the mall so looks weird being gated when other stores are open.
@tresgriffin8242
@tresgriffin8242 4 жыл бұрын
E-Rizzle McInerny Yeah. Maybe they’ll announce a revision to the plans at Crabtree to include Saks and a handful of high end stores (think Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, etc.) to bring it up to par with SouthPark in Charlotte. And also the thing with not having the same hours as the mall itself is pretty typical for those luxury department stores. The Saks and Neiman Marcus here in Atlanta are the same way.

We really liked this mall. Almost as much as Streets at Southpoint but can't quite compete. The sky lights and open feel of this place are great. It's a shame that the outside area is so dead. We liked the street look and agree it would have looked so much better if the water was running down the "creek" in the middle. There were quite a few people there for a Monday evening. We stayed at a hotel near this mall so we could make sure to see it all and still have time to hit more malls on Tuesday, but we saw all we needed to see in one visit. Might check it out again when we go back to Streets at Southpoint just to see if it's still doing well. Thanks again for all the recon work! Please keep it going.

I remember when this mall opened, crazy to think a big indoor mall was built in the 2000s, to me this mall was never amazing but it was also never terrible. 9:18 I will say the outside design is really bad I don't think I ever walked around out there. It's really bad because from the major road (capital blvd) when you first see the mall you see a giant parking lot and the big outer interior of the mall. I feel the mall should be spun 180 degrees so the people driving by can see the out door part and the giant interior part behind it.

I've always known TTC was beautiful based on photos I'd seen over the years, but oh my Lord seeing a walkthrough has made it exceed my expectations in the aesthetics department!!!! This place is drop dead gorgeous! The columns with lights on them, the skylights, the center court.....just breathtaking, not to mention you say it used to have a WATERFALL???? I can only IMAGINE how that would take it over the top! The Saks Fifth Avenue here has never made any sense to me and I feel like is a disgrace to the company really. This is in no way, shape, or form close to being a luxury mall, and it honestly lags behind a bit in being a decent mid-range mall. It doesn't seem as if Saks should really be in the market at all, but if they're going to be here, they should be at Crabtree Valley Mall. Awesome video!

So, anyone know what that red star means by the Macy's name? I looked it up and quite the 'oh' to it. This mall is pretty, the floors are nice, the open layout on the upper level. Level the curvy design on the ceiling. And another question, when a mall is abandoned or closed, what happens to the large flags that are hanging within? Are they removed or left by ignorance alone in a decaying environment?

H&M has opened up and is fully operating now! There’s many more stores closed tho. Sears is now the only one left in the Triangle. Edit: H&M closed a little while ago after that water main burst incident that flooded the entire lower level of the mall… the Sears closed not too long ago as well.

This mall has seen better days. Originally there was a beautiful waterfall in the middle in between the escalators. The lifestyle center featured a creek flowing through the center from the mall entrance to the end. In addition there were more fountains outside as well. Saks Fifth Avenue is there because it has a very lucrative deal with CBL at this mall. All the other anchors here are doing “so-so”. In the Triangle, North Hills Shopping Center, Crabtree Valley, and Streets at Southpoint are your main three “go-to” malls.

This is a weird one. Sears almost made it to 2022 here, but will fall short. The outside portion of the mall is like a couple I know of where the mall interior does very well and the outside falters. The outdoor sections in the areas where they have not done well are like this one. Close corridors with no in front parking.

@@Arturo-sm1tb Mostly brands you have never heard of and some name brand stuff mixed in. Sears corporate has reopened some full size department stores in Texas as Hometown stores. The reopened stores are only a fraction of the size of the old store, while the rest of the building is unused. They are trying to get franchise owners to take these locations. The reopened stores are very sad from what I have seen, very low inventory levels and lots of empty space.

Two things about TTC is in 2008 there was a riot in the mall that led to a mall curfew and added to the mall's rep as a high crime mall and the other is Saks has not left the mall because they are not paying rent. The Saks is lower quality store that has not been doing well for a long time.

Sometimes 60-70 here and there but usually between 25-40 degrees each night when the sun goes down. January and February are the coldest months here sometimes for weeks daily highs are not above 40 and lows are in the teens sometimes. Wisconsin is much colder but still it can be unenjoyable to be outside in the winter here if you’re hanging out and not moving around doing physical work.

This mall was one of the last Jacobs Groups malls in association with CBL Properties. It was heavily patterned after The Streets at Southpoint but the mall management gave up on the mall too quickly along with the economic downturn a decade ago. Sad but CBL doesnt know how to successfully operate a mall. They let this one go to pot very quickly. Meanwhile Crabtree continues to get better and Streets is holding up very well and will soon undergo an expansion in a few years.
