I notice a similarity between H. MT 02 and other hoyas you have described as having a butterscotch/caramel scent. I also notice similarities between H. naumannii and H. subcalva. H. subcalva is said to smell of grapes and/or artificial grape flavor. I particularly like the glamorous, light green leaves on both of these plants....

I note the similarities between MT 12 and othe hoyas you have described as having a caramel/butterscotch fragrance. Also, I note the similarities between naumannii and subcalva- flower shape and light green leaves. My subcalva may never bloom for me but it is described as having the scent of artificial grape flavor.

@@yesno7060 I have tried 3 times with H. subcalva and killed the plant every time. I think that I might have better luck if I tried it again using coconut husk chips, which is now my preferred medium. Most of the Acanthostemma Section Hoyas have that butterscotch scent, and to that group, I can add Hoya desvoeuxensis which has a very strong butterscotch/caramel scent.

Beautiful plants. That utility tub takes me back to the house where I lived as a child in Pennsylvania. Does yours have the washboard molded into it? I haven't seen it in 50 years but I remember it for some reason.

My utility sink does not have the washboard molded in, but I have seen photos of them. The really good ones were made of soapstone!

Great video Doug! Are those you’re using the bumblebee clips? If so do you happen to have a link to them? I can only find butterfly and dragonfly. No bees!! Ugh. Lol 😂 ❤️

Sadly, the bumblebee clips have not been made for years now. They were discontinued right after I bought 500 of them; I still have a few left that I use.

Wow, both of them are beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us. I have the same problem, flat mites. I am going to spray them with sulphur, asap. Did you spray underside of the leaves as well?

Thank you! I sprayed everything; bare vines, backs and fronts of leaves; it was saturated with it. I really can't recommend this treatment enough; I am still wowed by the benefits to growth.

It’s a shame the naumannii doesn’t smell nice. Those blooms are so cute! I am, however, very excited to get the MT02 from you to bloom! It’s didn’t grow at all until I sprayed it with sulfur. Also, when I took out my entire collection in order to spray them only to bring them back in with aphids 😭 I have a basement with a utility sink, but just didn’t think of that since it’s easier to toss them outside 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice to hear from you Ria! The MT-02 seems to be one of the Hoyas that is really stopped dead in its tracks from these flat mites. I'm sorry that you ended up with aphids; it seems if it is not one thing, it is another! Hopefully you did not get too many aphids, but they are not too bad to deal with in comparison to say mealy bugs.

Haha! 😊They got pretty bad 😅 I unintentionally let it get bad when I tried using beneficial bugs to take care of it. Ordered Green lacewing eggs & barely any of them hatched 🥴 But I’ve switched to Captain Jack’s dead bug brew, neem oil, & now sns 209 treatments so 🤞🏼🤞🏼Thank you for sharing your experiences with hoya!
