I’m with you there Marq, one of the most special things about genealogy is walking in the same space as my ancestors, whether that is a house they occupied or a road they walked along. I’m lucky in that my family have existed in a small part of East Sussex for 600 odd years so I really ‘feel’ their presence.

600 years??? That's impressive Kerry.

To be fair I didn’t do all the research myself, but yes I have a few lines on my tree which go back that far and then others which are stuck in the early 20th century haha. But even before I started my family history the Dallington and Burwash area of East Sussex always felt like home and I never knew why. Now I do.

That is how I feel when walking an old pathway when one is walking, ‘in the company of the imagined for they are more real.’ Edmund Burke. Always loved that quote.

I also grew up in Bramley and have 7 generations of family from there so I really would be walking in the same space as my ancestors.

That is wonderful family heritage, thanks for sharing.

I think that's why I like to go to historical places to be where past people were and it's also interesting. Great video.

Lovely video again Marq. Why are all these churches closed when they say they are open; so frustrating. There are some lovely houses in those villages. I've not heard of Wonersh would you believe. Pub lunch looked good, but, hey, no wine? Ooopsie 😃

Lovely video, Marq. It’s been ages since I’ve stopped off at the old railway station at Bramley - it was unrestored then and mostly derelict - it looks great now.

It's really a nce little area to walk around Matthew.

Interesting walk Marc. There used to be a dvd available with old film of the Horsham to Guildford line before Beeching. I got it out of our local library years ago.

I bet that was interesting to watch David.

@@MarqEnglish Marq it was, the DVD had chats with railwaymen who appeared in the old film.

Hi Marq, lovely video, thanks. Do you have any ancestors in Wonersh I think I might have, will have to check my family tree. Lovely to see the old train station at Wonersh, as you may know I have interests in old railway lines and have discovered the Downs Link at Southwater in Sussex recently. Shame the church was locked, however might be a good excuse to return and then you can eat another steak in the Grantley Arms.

Thanks Cathy, I've no ancestors here as they are all London based really.

I can recommend Rudgwick on the Downslink - and the Milk Churn cafe! There is also the double bridge near there. But maybe you have videoed there before...having walked from Christ's Hospital I was exhausted by time I got to Bramley and Wonersh so nice to see your exploration of them!

Thanks Jean, Rudgwick is on the List to visit at some point.

Hello Marq. Where did you get that water and mud from? Hasn't rained here for weeks. Nice to see the old station left intact. You seem to have an abundance of pretty villages and good pubs in Surrey , yet it's not a County I'm really familiar with.

This was filmed back in May after a heavy Rainfall.
