Dean Village is stunning. I walked there from Haymarket via Palmerston Place. Again a short walk if you don't ( and you should ) duck into Saint Mary's Church and the Arthur Conan Doyle Center. Poke around in these two beautiful buildings. Stunning architecture. The neighborhood through Randolph Crescent over to Murray Place is an architectural wonder. The buildings are magnificent and the history fascinating. Well worth a wonder about. 👍

Awesome Channel Tony, Thanks for helping me reminisce my youth. I was born in Edinburgh and moved to Canada as a teenager in the late 1980's. Your wee tours of Edinburgh really bring me back to this amazing city. Keep up the great work.

What an amazing town to call home..Another fun video. I hadn't thought about bagels in Edinburgh. When l lived on Long Island, the secret to the bagels was the water. I look forward to going to Bros Bagels, and Gregg's, of course. 😋💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙

I really enjoyed this video (and found myself wishing it had been up before my first trip to Edinburgh so I wouldn't have gotten so lost!). I think the "how to get there" is a good idea, and I look forward to the bike video that you're planning to do. For your "Edinburgh Then and Now" series, might you consider a couple of Alexander Nasmyth paintings, such as "Edinburgh Castle and the Nor' Loch" or "Princes Street with the commencement of the building of the Royal Institution 1825?" I'm rather sad today, having made reservations last September to arrive in Edinburgh TODAY (staying at Grassmarket No. 1). Who would have thought 7 months ago that we would still be battling COVID so intensely and that travel wouldn't be back up and running? For now I'll enjoy Edinburgh vicariously through your channel. Thanks for coming up with such great ideas week-to-week!

Another interesting video, thanks. Strolled down this exact same route last time I was up in Edinburgh. To all of those asking how to get from A to B, may I politely suggest something called 'a map' :-) Dean village is beautiful and it's such a contrast to the New Town just minutes away. As a Bristolian, I know the city of Bath very well. I could be blindfolded and dropped into either Bath or the New Town of Edinburgh, and I'd struggle to tell the difference (that is until I heard the local accent, of course). Dean village, on the other hand, is kind of like a cross between a Derbyshire mill town and Portmeirion, in Gwynedd (home of 'The Prisoner'). Love the architectural details also. The street names, both "carved in" and "sticky oot" :-) Did I mention that I just love the accent? Can't help but noticing that you guys are also well prepared for independence, with yer Parliament and embassies ;-)

There is a house there that is decorated in the Georgian style that you can visit. I was there a couple of years ago, No 7 Charlotte Square. It is very cool if you have a chance to visit.

Hi Tony, like you i live in and love Edinburgh. I noticed that when you zoomed in on the Melville Street sign there was other signage to the left of it and as I was going to the west end on Saturday anyway I went to have look and sure enough it looks as though the newer stonework of the Clydesdale bank has been built over Melville Place signage. Tom.

My family and I made that same walk 5 years back, the goal being to get to St. Bernard's Well to try and get some nice pictures at sunset. Got a bit lost and missed the photo op, but the walk, and the sites, were glorious all the same. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! A wee criticism: I'd love to share this clip with them, but I fear the shaky video would be a challenge for the queasy. :p

Thanks to your videos I feel like I know how to get around Edinburgh on my own. Hoping to make it there this winter. Can't wait! Question, are there any festivals or big holidays in the first two weeks of November in Edinburgh? I've been watching hotel prices and they seem to spike at that time. Can't find anything online about things at that time of year. Thanks again for all your work,Tony.

Wow this is a video I didn't think I would need! It's amazing how wide open your eyes need to be walking around Edinburgh. I think Dean Village would be a great place to go to after getting off the Caledonian Sleeper at 7am before all the attractions open! I love all the architecture and History!
