Thanks for posting, I used to live around that way as a child, and it hasn't changed that much apart from the two butchers shops have now disappeared, by the looks of it (The red painted one across the road from Briery vale villa's was a Jewish butchers) as back then they was a large Jewish community in Sunderland. I also remember a aeroplane being carved into one of the road curbs just up from the villa's which I believe was done during the second world war. I wonder if its still there?

@@sunboycold9164 Thanks for watching. I will keep an eye out next time I walk along the road. Pork butchers, and think from memory when I researched it around late 1800s early 1900s it was a shop and bakery.

Thanks again, over 55 years since I walked any of those streets as a young girl. I had forgotten how many beautiful houses we have in the posh end of Sunderland. I lived in Millfield in a street of lovely cottages. Look forward to next Sundays wander.
