I am from Leicester originally but i left when i was 13 to move down south! My sister still lives there! She had to leave her job that she had been in from the age of 16 now around 50 because of these types of people screaming at her in their language which she couldn't understand! Now she has had to move house! Again her home she has lived in from the age of 19 after getting married and one she has brought her family up in because she was the only white family left in her street and she felt more and more uncomfortable! I am a first generation born black of African Caribbean origin. I was born in Nechells in 1962 which is the next district going towards the city centre of Birmingham. I lived and was raised in Alum Rock 1964 to 1969, then my family moved to Ward End which is one of the four districts that make up the postcode of B8. I remember when this area was predominantly white, English, Irish, Scots and Welsh and the small number of Caribbean families that settled there in the sixties and early seventies. Now, we are all a minority there and the young Asian lads are quick to tell you that this is "their area". One said to me once, "we are the original boys of this area and no black man or no white man can come round here and tell us what to do". I replied "before you was a bubble in your dad's bollocks kid" I lived not more than ten minutes walk from where we were stood and having this exchange. I have lived in B8 since September 1969 and I retire next year in January 2025. I cannot wait to sell up and move out to the countryside. 😢

I did live in UK for over 25 years before moving back home in Easten Europe. When first arrived in there I was pretty much shocked when discovered places resembling some Muslim countries, and that was back in 1998. I invested to much into this country (business, house), and to be honest I always felt that England was my real home. How is it the council is allowing so much clutter outside shops. Yes, they can pay a licence fee to put stands outside on the pavement but you have to be able to get two prams by. Obstructing the walkways is a safety hazard particularly for blind, disabled people, elderly and others. Any accidents are the responsibility of the shop owners but the council should be monitoring this Also the illegally parked on pavements should be monitored.
