I bought a 2001 base Deville for $375, 7 years ago. I got it from a police impound auction. I had to pay $2,900 to have the transmission rebuilt before I could drive it. It had 146k miles. I love the car. It was over heating for 6 years. I remove the engine and replaced one stripped out head bolt hole threads. I end up rebuilding the engine and replacing all the gasket to stop the oil leaks. I could not find a shop near Atlanta that would do the work. I'm glad I did because now I know how easy it is to stop a Northstar from over heating.

@@Dfsblue55 Try block testing fluid. It probably will turn green not yellow. Take a picture or video of the fluid before and after. I have a video where this happen. Green mean the head gasket has a small leak.

I had the same car (2003) for years, in silver, 24k miles. The father passed away, the sons kept the car for 2 years just to take their mother out on special occasions & when she passed away, they sold to me. Loved the car until I had a accident; total ins loss. Own a 2008 DTS now

I've been trying to put the face/personality of these cars into words for a while. I had a 2000 DeVille for a company car, and while its no '87 Brougham it was a comfy ride and phenomenal roadtripper. When taking the Cadillacs before it into account, its got sort of an anime mascot face. And i feel like that's actually a pretty accurate sum up of its place in the pantheon of "true" Cadillacs. Its a very pleasant and happy car. I see it as relaxing when the other Caddies (all this car's senior) which need effort to drive, but reward for it. The DTS that came after, on the other hand, is like working a cubicle job in an office, but at least you got an upgraded desk chair.

I also have a 2001 deville with only 37000 miles. I've had to replace all 4 window motors and the vent actuator twice. Expensive upkeep but no replacement compares to the blue book value...

0:11 I own a 2001 deville that I purchased from my parents estate. I paid $4500 dollars and it has 37000 miles. Have had the usual 2001 problems. Had to replace all 4 window motors and vent actuator. Other than that it continues to be a reliable comfortable mode of transportation. I also only drive it around 1000 miles a year. Wud hate to sell it. Blue book doesn't really show its value
