Super clean. Love the white face gauge dials. Used a set of Autometer Phantom gauges in one of my old truck builds years ago. Good looker right there.

18:23 they definitely made Saleen cobras. 96-04 and one S351 was built on a cobra chassis.

S351 didn't have anything to do with a cobra they actually started with v6 cars because the motor was getting replaced anyway that is why they have normal tri bar emblem on them still s281 doesn't have that. They made actual saleen cobras that they started out as cobras and given the saleen treatment instead of starting out as a gt like most of them were with the 2v so they had 4v and anything else that was on cobras this was before and during terminator years both na and blown terminators. On the saleen terminator the driveline, hood and interior stayed cobra everything else got the saleen treatment like other saleens. They're rare.

No....she is a true Saleen, but not a Saleen Cobra, nor a true Terminator. I hope I made that clear in the video. If not, she is indeed sporting a transplanted Terminator motor from a crushed 2003 Cobra. I know the KB is a great swap.....I just don't want to face that right now. Got to fix up the home first. @@saleendriver sn95 mystic cobras and new edge sn95 mystichrome are the best mustang colors ever of course they are rare to find especially in good condition and being a chameleon paint job cannot be touched up if anywhere gets scratched or damaged and to repaint car with true ford mystic paint your lookin at 10k so its a paint if you get you gotta really be careful with to keep mint condtion

Sick build, out of everything done on the car the only things that struck me odd or out of place are the fog lights and the lightning bolt engine bay pieces. Thats really good considering the HUGE amount of work done to it.

I try not to think about all the work done to this car. But I am glad you enjoyed the outcome. The painted engine cover pieces was a thing I had a friend of mine do. She was getting in to airbrushing, and I volunteered my car's pieces for her to practice on. As for the driving light, yes those are not Ford or Saleen pieces. I put them in because where I live the roads are very dark at night, and I wanted the extra light.

Sounds great! On a convertible I strongly advise doing some chassis strengthening and if its a 5 speed I can promise you it won't be happy long behind a Termi. If you can get the 6 speed too, do it. As for the swap itself....obviously the engine fits, but there will be mods to the wiring harness and computer work to consider. But it can be done! Good luck!

Might be a tight fit getting the Terminator motor in a 96, but I bet it can be done. Pro tip: don't expect your existing 5-speed to live long behind that supercharger. Ask me how I know this. Anyway, I wish you good luck sir.

@@saleendriver Yes, it will definitely be a tight fit. I actually had plans to use the T56 Magnum with either the 2.97 first gear ratio or the 2.66 first gear ratio. Since I have always been terminator powertrain fan, I'm going to go with the 2.66 since like you mentioned is the proper ratio for this motor.

Indeed. When I picked the transmission to replace the T45, I specified I wanted the gearing in the transmission I buy to have the EXACT gearing that Ford picked. I figure they picked that for a reason, and who am I to question SVT's knowledge?

@@saleendriver Good thought process! The bigger first gear ratios are for N/A setups so you did the right thing. You can really stretch the legs of the supercharged setup with that first gear setup.

That's really nice. So the one a friend and I did all the work on was a S281 that actually came without a supercharger. We put on a vortech, new fuel pump/ lines and everything. Then an H pipe exhaust (liked it more than the X). We did a line-lock, meth injection and air and headers, then tuned it on a dyno. Came out in the 540's. His was a paleish yellow coupe, 2004. That thing would spin the tires in 4th, it needed a mini-tub badly. They were also the Pirellis on stock wheels. Needed to be bigger. He did crack the block later, after putting a different setup on the supercharger. Replaced it and sold it. Edit: I forgot he replaced the transmission with really short gears, didn't help the traction issue I imagine. I met Steve Saleen at Bill Collins Ford in Louisville KY and was there to get a poster signed for my friend and his dad, which he did but between fans/ collectors he was definitely not in a good mood and had nothing nice to say but I am sure he had a bad day. I don't know why he put their names in " " quotes like they were nicknames but I always got a kick out of that. A funny thing, I met a collector who had a convertible that had 30 miles on the odometer and said he had already gotten it up to 130 MPH. Those poor seals.

I will never understand collecting a car with under 100 miles on it and locking it away. Drive it once in a while....ain't gonna kill you..... Sounded like you guys built a potent piece there. Bet that car was a ton of fun to drive. I love mine a lot. Just wish one thing....better cooling...... Steve has been known to have his bad days. But he is known to be generous with his time to the fans. He gets it, mostly.

@@saleendriver I think its important for their to be brand new cars for every iconic badass car at least like 10-15 examples that have super low mileage and that are garage queens because those are the ones that will last the longest and they will be all original and when cars like this saleen stang turn 60 yrs old those garage queens will be time capsules and we need them no matter what car it is it will show what that car was like when it first released

Mach1 was a very good version of the New Edge. Basically it reused the engine from the 99/01 Cobra, but with the Shaker scoop. Not quite as quick as the Terminators of the same years, but a definite step up from the GT.

Love it. Have an 03 s281 with a kenne bell supercharger. Always wanted a terminator also. Can’t bring myself to sell the saleen though. This is perfect because IMO the new edge saleen is best looking mustang ever with the forged terminator engine.

They made 03-04 Saleen cobras theyre rare tho but it was terminator driveline, hood, interior, and emblems with saleen wheels, body kit, spoiler, suspension, brakes etc. That would be one sick car to have.

Love the car! How did you get th fog lights into a Saleen bumper/grill? Any idea where I could buy the assembly for the fog lights?

The lights are an LED set I bought. They are mounted to the car via a pair of thick metal L brackets that are attached to the car. I don't know how exactly.....they appear to be welded to something. The the lights attach to those brackets. A shop put them in for me, so I don't have much more detail than that.

Awesome Car! Surprised the hell outta me when you said you bought that steering wheel and its already worn out. I wont be buying one... Damn.....that's terrible. But at least you got it back, and you get to make it better. As far as I know, the PCM accepted its new program with no issues. But you definitely need a tuner who knows his stuff.

It was more than a body kit they did suspension stuff and wheels and brakes the driveline, interior and emblems and hood remained cobra they gave the rest the saleen treatment they made saleen cobras back in the na models too.

Custom is the way to go gotta be unique i love body kits and custom parts because everybody's cars look so similar besides rims im 19 but went to all the early 2000's car shows with my dad and going to those shows is what made me fall in love with all the fully custom cars inside and out i think teenagers who buy cheap ebay bodykits and scissor doors on their cobalt is what turned a lot of people away from visual parts but at the car shows and in early 2000s it was nothing to see people with 30k worth of visual parts added to their cars even more lots of times as well now those type of cars are the best its a shame that a lot of people destroy these early 2000s time capsules since a lot of these cars were customized 20 years ago many have been totalled, sitting to long outside rusting away, lost to time so are hard to find them for sale nowadays lots of the beautiful early 2000s custom builds sold in last few years usually get purchased for a bargain prices then all the rare parts worth lots of money get taken off car and sold then stock parts get put back on car the parts that aren't worth a lot either get tossed or sold cheap and get replaced with stock parts also then the owner either keeps or sell car but still it's ruined their are so many stock or poorly/cheaply modified custom cars you can buy and do anything with I don't care if a half ass full custom car gets stripped or whatever but the ones that were at the shows and with tens of thousands in visual parts and only the top of the line brand bodykits on it and other expensive parts those car builds have a lot of history and are a huge pieces of the golden era of car tuning they should be saved and preserved to show what that scene was all about or they should sell it with all the og parts to one of the enthusaist who truly appreciate that car scene all of the people who hate on visual modifications just weren't around for that car scene so don't know how awesome it really was and they don't understand the differences between the shitty car builds and top end custom builds is crap custom builds all have cheap ebay parts and a $300 scissor door kit basically every part on the car is China junk that breaks easy and stock would definitely be way better to use those cars could be fully custom inside and out nothing stock but is under 4k to do entire car and the top end old school custom builds consist of all name brand parts, the bodykits are actually more aerodynamic than stock they have a bunch of testing done and let lots of air into certain areas like engine and brakes which make the car more efficient they cost no less than 2k for front ,side and rear bumper and only north in price, even scissor doors can be cool but only if its a professional job and name brand kit as well the well made scissor kits that were like 5k are still working amazing today they stay up in air perfect, still are strong and tight and those $300 kits wore out in a few months if that long but that's what people never consider they just say all early 2000s fast and furious style parts are shitty and keeping a car one is the only good way but the builds with an unlimited bank acc to build with and a good vision are actually great cars unique, they look great and most cars with 30k into visuals will have a nice list of performance parts also so are not slow and rice like most think the early 2000s car builds that should be preserved and represent that era are the best ones and those have every area Customized which includes a built engine I've seen a lot of great examples for sale in my life I wish i could of bought them all their was a prelude that was 7,500 it had at least 35k worth of parts in it and was in a magazine back in the day i Seen a civic for 15k not sure of it sold but it was the baddest civic and one of the baddest cars i ever seen in my life it had 100k yes 100 thousand dollars sunk into it i couldn't find one thing on car that was stock on outside, interior or even in engine and every part was the most expensive parts available at that time car was a full show car And was garage queened these last 15 years in storage taken out only enough to keep everything working and in shape so is still mint condition the car has 460 horses which for a car built 20 years ago is super fast nowadays 460 isn't anything special but im sure if its at 460 it would be easy to make faster but it should be kept identical to how it was no matter who buys it I'm not sure if it sold i know the owner is still the same O.G who put 100k into it he said to me that he would not sell it any cheaper and if he sells it he will watch put for who is buying it since he wants whoever gets it to love the car as much as he does and definitely nobody who has intentions of ripping car apart and selling the valuable parts he might of just kept it but thats how the good early 2000s cars should get treated I would of bought that civic in a heartbeat it was just far out of my proce range unfortunately and that's one thing I do hate about custom cars its that they are 1 of 1 vehicles so if you miss out on a car for an amazing deal that is just so unique when it sells its gone and there's no car similar for example someone was selling an 1998 eclipse gsx fully custom for 5k it had at least 15-20k in mods beautiful car and only 60k original miles the type of eclipses that are mostly long gone I mean full custom with name brand visual and performance parts, the awd gsx best eclipse made with only 60k miles well i couldn't get money saved up in time and it sold i was real mad a few months ago it was back up for sale again for 1st time in 3 years but the owner that got money before wrecked it bad so most of the custom irreplaceable parts are totalled like the car is ruined I still was gonna attempt to buy it and fix it as a project but cars sold mint 3 yrs ago for 4,500-5k and current owner wouldn't go under 4,500 wrecked so he drove car for 3 years, sold a few rare 20 yr old parts for who knows what and totalled the car like it needs a ton of body work I think the guy only had liability or something but b4 they would fix car probably just total it the car couldn't be fixed no mattwr what because everything's custom the parts haven't been produced for 15 years so hard to find etc the car did sell but this owner just took off all the parts he wanted and is selling for 4,500 I just find it funny that every owner made the car less valuable yet still broke even or end up actually making money to bad i wasn't able to buy car i would of kept it in mint condition and if anything only made it better and some of the other parts were taken off and sold right after he got car i guess this happens a lot nowadays with so many different amazing cars and it sucks immature people destroying 1 of 1 cars in mint condition just really bothers me like i feel their is many beginner cars for sale so why get the low mileage time capsule cars then ruin them here's a few examples I actually saw happen and happen pretty often either selling old school rare parts, letting car rust outside or just being careless and wrecking the Car well that's all ima say i know this post is off topic but the guy said he didn't like the custom parts on your saleen and i disagree as go long as name brand visual parts are the coolest route to take and saving the rare cars customized 20 years ago need to be saved and preserved for sure that's also my opinion I feel strongly about this the early 2000s car builds were all using true jdm parts that was the style in Japan and the usa started using and not only tuner cars looked good customized like that people were making the sickest muscle cars that were fully custom also

They take SVT Cobra's for 03/04 and convert them to Saleens with Saleen serial numbers. What you did is made up. You took a base car and stuck a termi motor in it. Not a real terminator.

And I said so in the video, in all my car show display material, and to anyone I talk to about the car. Its a real Saleen, with documents to prove it. It had its original motor wrecked by a crooked shop. I was fortunate enough to find a low mileage 2003 Terminator motor and transplanted it. I also later replaced the transmission from a T45 to a T56. I am aware there are actual Saleen Cobras. This is not one of them. I've shown the car as it is and as it was made and been 100% transparent about it. So......what is your point?

Yes but it is a real s821 saleen mustang and it has a real terminator engine in it a lot of people would rather have this saleen with the terminator engine more than a regular terminator cobra because it's the best of both worlds and the saleen body kit is just so sick the owner never tried saying he had a terminator Cobra but he did say he had a real s821 saleen mustang with a terminator cobra engine that is hella fast and tons of fun to drive he bought his saleen stang brand new 20 years ago and if he wanted to have the terminator cobra instead he would of got that one but he likes the saleen more i bet and in my opinion having the looks of the saleen mustang but the power of the terminator cobra is the ultimate i seen a few people actually make their terminator cobras into the saleen mustang so the opposite of what this guy did im not sure what people think is better is the saleen mustang with the 03-04 cobra engine in it better or is the 03-04 term mustang cobra with all the saleen visuals on it better they are the same but reversed both are sick cars but for me i would rather have a real saleen stang with term engine in it rather than a term cobra with saleen visuals because with the saleen its jot like your making a replica or clone car your just doing an engine swap but if you have a 03 cobra and you make it look like a saleen your basically making a saleen clone they are on tbe same level so both are definitely acceptable and cool what is annoying though is the people with the mustang gt and v6 that keep making cobra and saleen replica/clones so many ppl keep doing that but I feel like no matter what it will always just be a gt so why spend so much time/money getting all the cobra parts for your gt when it will always just be a gt if you have a gt i feel like you should just be happy with it and if you want to build it that's awesome instead of trying to make it something its not just my 2 cents on the higher trim level clones basically they are just trying to up badge their car which is very cringy and after all the money they spent buying all the cobra parts amd doing the labor they could of afforded a real mustang cobra maybe only one in rough condition but you can just fix up the cobra instead and it would pay off more because cobras hold more value than regular gt and stuff

I agree, its a very nice hood. But I had put on the Cervinis 2000 Cobra R hood before I did the engine transplant. Good thing too, since the Terminator motor is a bit taller than the 2-valve motor. And I like the hood design, always have. And in Florida where I live it does rain quite a bit, so I would have concern about water intrusion with that vented hood. So I agree, its a beautiful hood. But until I actually need another hood, I'm good with what I have. I'll take that money and put it into the big brake kit I have planned soon.

@@saleendriver when you purchased your cobra r hood was it painted or just primor and you painted it aftwrwards I think it looks nice and mpst important its your car so whatever you prefer you keep people always tell me things that they think i should change on my car but i would never do that since I prefer the customization options i currently have on it and it is my car not theirs so why should i customize it to anyone's liking beside my own what's wild is how many people try to design their car just to impress everybody else and they get all worried about people not liking it or something which is crazy because it's their car but they only worry about what other people and people who are just strangers think i always tell those people to quit basing your car pff other peoples taste and make it in your own image you will like and enjoy it a lot more and don't care if someone doesn't

When the Cervinis hood came it was in white gel coat. It had to be prepped and painted like any other raw part. First shop did an OK job, but another shop redid it and it turned out great.

I’m thinking a Saleen is a Special edition type of Mustang.......A Terminator drivetrain is a Special edition drivetrain from another Special Edition type of Mustang...... If it was your Dream Saleen Mustang Jacob Hartman, and the motor blew up, would you search for the exact same engine it had, or would you want to make your Dream Car an even bigger Badass than it already was?? Using your reasoning, I shouldn’t have changed out the smaller supercharger on my 2010 GT500 for the bigger 3.6L Kenne Bell LC Blower and Stage 3 Cams in it either..... In fact I shouldn’t have put the same Drivetrain that comes in the 1000HP Shelby GT500 Super Snake, into my “Normal edition” Shelby GT500, because it didn’t come with that originally..... I don’t advertise it as a Super Snake, just as he hasn’t advertised his Saleen as a Terminator Cobra....... That’s the same thing as having a Gorgeous 1970-71 Cuda with a blown up 340 Motor in it and having the chance to put a 426 HEMI drivetrain in it, but saying no it didn’t come with it so I just can’t do it.... BULLSH*T!!!! GRAB THE SHOEHORNS AND VASELINE BOYS BECAUSE WE’RE STUFFING AN ELEPHANT INTO A HORSE TRAILER!!!!
