A Waterfall and Melting Snow on a Spring Hike in April

I head out for a spring hike to observe the change of seasons as the snow begins to melt and the birds are out singing. As most Norwegians during Easter I enjoy some hot chocolate and a Kvikk Lunsj.
I'm currently back on the west coast of Norway to visit my family for Easter, and since this area is further south than Lofoten the spring is about 1-2 months earlier. It almost feels like time traveling when I get to feel the warmer temperatures before we get them in Lofoten, so I try to enjoy it as much as I can.

I like the view of the valley from the rock. You couldn’t have picked a better spot for a coffee break.

Yeah, I thought it would be a nice spot up by the lake where the river started, but with the snow still there I went back down which I where I found this spot. The view was perfect. 😊👌🏻

Sit back, relax, sip of the coffee and watch another video from one of my favourite KZbinrs 👏🏻 How many places can you get entertained, relaxed and educated in the same time 😃 I struggle alot with highlights in snow and sky scenes like this, do you use ND filters when you are out shooting? The shot between the trees man...🔥 Thank you again for a nice trip. Can't wait to see more spring and summer videos as well 👏🏻

Thank you Thomas! 🙏🏻 Yes, if it's so bright that I can't keep the aperture open while at the same time keeping a shutter speed at 1/50 I use a Polar Pro variable ND-filter. Although a variable ND filter is made by combining two polarising-filters I'm not sure if they act as a single polariser filter would in filtering out reflections. I do have a separate polarising filter which I use to remove reflection of the floor in real estate photography, but I've never used it for video, and while it could help a bit with the snow it wouldn't help with the sky. So for me the ND-filter is just a way of keeping the exposure down. I think the limitation is in the sensor of the camera as well as how much information you get out of it. I shoot everything in Canon Log and I use the histogram to check the exposure before each shot. Sometimes it also help to keep the limitations of a camera in mind, so if the dynamic range in more than what the camera allows for I adjust how I shoot, so for example I try to shoot me with the sun in the background I can opt to shoot me as a silhouette against the sun instead of trying to keep both me and the sun equally exposed which would be impossible, or at least it would create a lot of noise in the shadows.

The ambient sounds is as relaxing as the views. I really like your videos and try to ration them so they will last. I'm not sure about your coffee, however! ;-)
