Using fast shutter speeds really works in these photos, making the awesome power of the water in each scene much more evident.
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto6 жыл бұрын
I think so to. I instantly regretted going so low on the shutter after Langfoss. This time I was determined to freeze each drop. Thanks Jami!
@woodygreen68266 жыл бұрын
I'll agree with a couple of other posters, I like the fast shutter speeds. Long shutter speeds for smoothed out water has it's place, but to show the power and majesty of these waterfalls, freezing each drop of water is the way to go. Very nice compositions, I think I like the third one the best. Thanks for another great episode! I appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos.
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto6 жыл бұрын
I agree! After Langfoss, I regretted going to low on the shutter. I think it shows the rawness more accurately with a high shutter :) Thanks for watching and commenting friend!

Waterfall heaven buddy. Definitely looks like a lovely hike. I think what I enjoyed most about these images was the water and how the light hit it in certain images. I love that glow. Another fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto6 жыл бұрын
Waterfall heaven, you are right ser! I think most of the sharp glow would have disappeared if the shutter was slower, something to keep in mind on future waterfalls hikes :) Thanks buddy!

Hey Oddbjorn - great episode - in one of your first episodes you included guy wires from a radio tower in a seascape. That struck me early on, because so many photographers would not dream of letting something man made interfere with a landscape in such a fashion, let alone incorporate it as a creative element. Like all things, photography is full of conventions and conformists. So I was thrilled to see you shoot a waterfall with a fast shutter and it worked wonderfully. Yet, most would try long exposures because that's what everyone tends to do. Same goes with using a telephoto lens to compose landscapes - there's a whole world of photographers who sincerely believe that landscapes can only be shot at wide angle. I read a quote recently, "The opposite of courage is not fear, it is conformity." Thankfully, you don't seem lacking in courage, which is a really, really good thing. Best, Dave
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto6 жыл бұрын
Hi David! Hope the weekend is filled with nice weather and photographs :) Thank you ever so much for the kind words. Yes, those guy wires, I remember that. My philosophy is quite simple, If you can't loose it off, make use of it (if possible). There can be beauty in everything, some beauty are just more hidden. After Langfoss, I was quite "bummed" because I though the images didn't quite reflect the raw power of the waterfall. I though it may be because I went to low on the shutter, and decided to go really high on the next trip, hoping for more rawness. And yes, that did the trick! That is a good quote, and very true. Thank you again. Your words warm the heart friend! Take care buddy.

Lovely vid and great photography - we walked this hike during our first trip to Norway in May 2018. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and warm too - we dipped our feet in the icy water to cool off! Can't wait to get back to Norway - everywhere we went was so clean and well cared for. Thanks for reminding us of a great time.

I see the sheep aren’t as talkative round there! Beautiful treck Oddbjorn with a lot of detailed information. The height of the waterfalls certainly beats the ones over here and it very much reminds me of Yosemite/ North Western US, not that I’ve been there. The shot at 10:19 was beautiful and love the footage of the flowers, possibly anemones?? Your channel deserves its praise and exposure and long may it continue. Take care for now and keep away from the gravel paths 😬😬👍

Hehe, thanks James! I will stray far from the gravel! I would love to photograph Yosemite. That would be a dream. They wern't into talking no, but they did enjoy a good ol' rub on the head! Not sure what the flowers are called, my mum would know for sure though! :)

The shots were awesome but the one with the tree against the white spray was my favorite. I'm not sure if you would call that your subject with the majestic fall in the shot but it created an excellent figure to ground relationship that drew my eye. I almost believe you could have made two shots there, one zoomed in on the tree to make it prominent and the other, the shot you had. But alas, I have a thing for trees that stand out against a background so maybe it is just me. By the way, the scrambled egg sandwich wasn't bad either!

Love this new series you are doing! Some fantastic images, especially given the harsh light in the middle of the day. The spray from the water really helped create an atmosphere, and the trees give a sense of scale. I’m actually surprised you wanted to freeze the motion of the water completely - it seems many photographers try for a middle ground to show both movement and texture. Personal taste I suppose. Really liked the final edits and colors in the images you showed. Can’t wait to go to Norway! 🇳🇴 Glad to hear the channel is growing! Well deserved.
@oddbjrnaustevikfoto6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Jon! It was harsh light indeed, but there's not so much we can do about it. The light in the second episode however, was very good :) I've been going for fast shutters nowadays, it helps with the portrayal of the rawness in each waterfall, in my eyes :) You coming over? You're going to have a great time for sure!

What a beautiful location and what stunning weather. Is it always like that in Norway? I think a lot of people are going to get excited about you using a fast shutter speed to photograph the falls. Great shots as usual, I particularly liked the shot of Tveitafossen. That tree over looking the fall just makes the picture. Delighted to hear you've had a bit of an uplift in subs recently, thoroughly deserved. I'd love to see you grow to a size that reflects the quality of your videos.

Thanks a lot Chris! No, the weather is definetly not like this usually. It hasn’t rained around here for over a month! It’s been over a hundred years since that have happened! Fire is prohibited all around, so we had to improvise on the last outing! Lately I’ve been using fast shutterspeed to try to capture the raw power of the waterfalls! It feels right 😀 thanks again for the kind words! And, yes it snowing further up.. 😀

Takk for film.
