Coastal Hike in Winter - Enjoying the Few Hours of Sunlight

Yet another day with beautiful light, so I hike out to the coast on the southern side of Lofoten to watch the sun for a few hours. The mountains are covered in snow and ice, but along the coastline the ground is mostly bare.
There’s lots of birdlife around, and it seems to be increasing now that the fishing season has begun. I’m not sure if the flock of birds were leaving for more southern climates, because a few minutes later they all came back. Perhaps they forgot something.

Such a beautiful scenery and another great video! Have you ever thought of making a sort of compilation video of your best nature scenes from all videos? Like an hour long edit of just landscape footage, maybe show the Lofoten in all four seasons. That would be great to play on TV in the background to relax. Cheers!

Thank you! I haven't thought about that. It's a great idea! I have thought about making a separate channel were I only post several hour long videos of nature (without me in them), which probably would be a few clips from the same area that loops, but a compilation of footage from different seasons would also be interesting. Thank you! Haha, that's true. We had some snow a while back, and when people walk on the path the snow is compacted and resembles more of a solid than airy snow, so it takes more time to melt. Same as with ski tracks in the spring. What is also fascinating is when someone walks on snow and there is wind afterwards you might see inverted foot steps rising up from the snow.

Yes true, I‘ve seen this before. Snow is the best. :) Your camera seems to be fantastic. I guess you shoot in c-log and colorgrade afterwards? Or how do you do it? I think I have to upgrade my equipment. I don‘t like my own videos anymore since I watch yours ;)

Good stuff. Yes, that's correct. I shoot in the HQ-mode on the R5 which oversamples the 8K-image into 4K. It's almost too sharp and detailed at times, but I believe it does help in regards of immersion. And yes, I shoot in C-Log and color grade afterwards. It looks like the R5 will get a firmware update next month which will enable C-Log3 which I'll definitely be testing out. As for color grading my workflow has changed as I'm still learning different ways of doing it. I have been using FilmConvert for a while, but since they don't yet have a camera profile for the R5 I'm not completely convinced with the colors, so I have been experimenting with grading manually. I think a combination of methods would yield the best results. Grade manually first and then apply just a hint of FilmConvert on top. I'm dealing with such contrasting scenes that it's hard to just slap a LUT on top. I do need to work a bit to find the right balance between highlights and shadows, so I don't blow out the sky behind me in every shot. That's where all the subtle colors are! Your videos are great btw, and I hope to see more of your work.
