Because of you and your channel my love for reading elevates that i almost want to reconsider my change of path but it turns out i can learn literature and appreciate them while i pursue my own journey as future lawyer, books balance my life from being stressful to comfort because the solitude i do when im all alone with my books hits different it's like im on a different planet especially when i read dickens, rilke and my recent frankeintein which comes from your recommendations , more power to your channel and i know you will be more in the area of literature

I feel the exact same way. I'm studying political science and love to read and study books but I always thought that all my time would have to be devoted to studying the law. But fortunately, I can study both because I found out that I could satisfy my requirements with both literature and political science classes! Good luck to you in your academic journey!

after i finished my master's a couple months ago, i had a panic attack almost every sunday and thursday (the nights when i had assignments due) feeling like i wasn't doing enough. post-term/post-graduation burnout is real! the best thing i could do was just take deep breaths and try to remember hobbies i enjoy. it feels insane to actually be reading for fun again instead of just for assignments. hang in there, it gets easier! :) thanks for the vlog

I relate to this incredibly so. I just finished my Honours degree last year, and this post-graduation burnout has been around since December. I am slowly starting to find my feet but motivation is low, and what is worse my anxiety at having nothing urgent or "significant" to do is gnawing. Thanks for the comment!

I can totally relate to your feelings after finishing your exams! It's funny how, when we are doing our exams, we have at least a thousand plans about things to do after the exams, but when they are finally done, we aren't really able to do anything. I think that studying, provided you're really passionate about the subject, can give you a sense of purpose.

Hi Emmie! I really resonate with your "aimless jellyfish" feeling. I graduated last year with my Masters in English lit, and God I miss school so much. After graduating, I fell into a pretty deep depression because I had no idea what to do with myself. I couldn't read, I couldn't write, I just couldn't do any of the things that gave my life meaning. I felt so useless! I think the problem was that school/being a student was my entire universe and then suddenly it wasn't. My identity from 6 years old to 24 years old was inextricably linked to my life as a student. Without school, I had no idea who I was. I am just now coming out of that funk (I still have my days), and things are much better. My advice to you is to try and do the things that you love every day; do those things even if you feel aimless and bleh. Cultivate who you are outside of school, and let that Emmie grow and flourish. You can't stay in shool forever (as much as I wish we could), so the time is coming when school is no longer who you are or what you do. Don't be like me and get blindsided by the loss of school, be ready for that new chapter in your life. I love your videos and congrats on being done for the year! From one jellyfish to another :)

Your videos are so calming and comforting. I love writing but I recently lost my motivation to write I don't know why. I just lost the motivation to create something. I feel okay about myself that it's not only me. I really hope you feel better soon. Sending you love and strength.💗✨

I don't know why but I had a visceral reaction to seeing the moss in the tombstone engravings, I absolutely love moss and could talk about it for hours but seeing in the cracks of the stone that serves as a reminder for someone's life brought some feeling of comfort or another feeling I can't describe. The Name of the Rose is a fantastic book, yes, it is a murder mystery - I also have the same edition! There is also a great film based on the book starring Sean Connery and Christian Slater. Another fantastic book by Umberto Eco is called “Baudolino”, which is a fantasy-medieval fiction about utopian/dystopian ideas. Enjoy!
