when i watch you make art, i'm always at ease. it's hard to describe how much comfort i get seeing you lay something on the pages of your sketchbook; without obsessing over maximum presentation - those warped pages full of life and flavour and thoughts. thank you for the wonderful video. i ended up a little tearful by the end and once again, you have inspired me to make art for myself :')

What a pleasure to see another video from you! I always feel so inspired by you and enjoy your videos so much. I love how freely you draw and paint in your sketchbook. I have trouble being so spontaneous-I think I worry too much that I’m going to ruin it. 😩
@basho43063 жыл бұрын
The thought of drawing badly blocks a lot of artists. If I may give you an advice I heard: No matter how much you improve, statistically 50 % of your drawings will always be worse than your average and 50 % always better. So ... just draw, enjoy and improve.
@coloredcarol80743 жыл бұрын
Same for me…
@thebirdartistscottage3 жыл бұрын
@@basho4306 Good advice! I certainly do better with drawing than painting, in part because I draw all the time and don’t paint as much. In thinking about it, the reason I’m more comfortable taking risks in drawing is because I’ve done it so much. So it sounds like what might help me is to paint A LOT and then perhaps I’ll start seeing the 50% improvement! Ooooh, I think a plan is forming! 🙏🏼

How much effort in technical film production does it take for you to make these? You seem to have multiple angles just to show you dipping your brush into paint. And then a different angle to show youve set up the desk and food for the day without any camera equipment visible for the overhead shot. And a different angle to show you painting.
@thebirdartistscottage3 жыл бұрын
From my own experience, producing a 20 minute video takes me about 11 - 12 hours. So I’m imagining that hers take much longer than that with all the various camera angles. She’s so good at what she does and I’m constantly inspired by her on every level!

How long is your lunch break? I start my first full-time job recently and I found it’s so hard to paint/draw after work or during lunch break. I'm trying to find the joy in making art again. I feel like a lot of times I want to make something that looks polished and perfect, something big where I sink hours and hours into. It's wonderful when I can complete a piece like that, but it can be quite draining on me. And with even just a semi-creative part time job where I spend just 3 long days a week, I can't get myself to take on such big projects and it's brought my art making into a standstill. I think, just by watching this video, it's helped me realize that it's fine to make something quick, unfinished and make a mess in one's sketchbook, and that I should try to either find beauty in something simple, or just stop expecting everything I make to be something big. I want to enjoy art again and find that innocence in making something that's purely impulsive yet still holds passion for the making process. Am I making any sense? Haha xD I have so many ideas for compositions that are just sitting there but I should do something simple for once that doesn't take hours upon hours u_u
