A Week in my WiLd Life | solo travel through Europe

Traveling through Europe alone and falling in love with the space between breaths and the peace I have been finding in the chaos. Feeling so grateful for every little thing.

Could you maybe share your experiences on solo travel and how to plan for such a trip I am curious to see how you as an introvert (I am very much an introvert) mentally prepare yourself to go into the unknown.

I did that 5 years ago and almost got sent back to the plane hahah . The agent at the Canadian border service kept asking detailed questions and I kept giving vague answers (8h flight+jet lag+introvert) but fortunately all went back to normal and it is the best experience of my life so far. As introverts we just have to dive in,take risks and deal with the outcomes

Traveling alone is my biggest dream and my biggest fear at the same time. I have huuuuge social anxiety so being in presence of people is a nightmare, even more when I'm alone. But this video inspire me so much! Also as a French girl, I'm so glad to see people travel somewhere else than Paris 😄 The south of France is so much more beautiful!

moniqueenxo be aware and not do something that puts you even more at risk but I always say if you travel in fear then you will be attracting that energy to you and the chances of something happening will be higher. Walk through and act confident even if you aren’t. You are less of a target if you don’t look like a scary lost soul wondering around. The more you do it the less scary you will be 😊

Hostelling, trains. But all alone. Meet other tourists a lot or talk to people in shops, streets. Cool to get away. Last Monday I took the bus from hamburg to Berlin with my family to renew my kids'passports at the US embassy. Got up so early and home late, hassle through the subway maze to get to appointment on time then only a short break and back home but Berlin seems really nice, green, spread out, not Manhattan but I didn't go downtown. Every city is different but those French small towns seem all alike from your pictures. Hamburg, Berlin street feel very similar so I guess generally speaking go to one German town, seen them all and same in France, etc. Because chain stores are same and construction of buildings. More generally then East Coast more like Europe than West coast USA. Switzerland very picturesque, climbing a lot paths,,taking little mountain trains, maybe to next town and returning for the night to sleep. Itinerary. Tourists it seems always take Alps, big cities, Paris, London, Rome. Northern Europe not as pretty generally, architecture, churches, etc. Besides beaches in south. We have north, baltic sea beaches but more for locals. Cote d ázur is better if coming all the way over atlantic. Probably still warm in October a little. Boring for you without home routine. About getting into characters lives in books I read authors really get involved in them as if real people and they write further by communicating with them, what they would do. Take on lives of their own in author's head. Creative work like painting is like that I guess, comes from inside, giving birh so to speak. Sort of silly watching such travel films. It is so every day life, not exciting really. I mean I live here in Europe. I take trips and haven't taken photos for years hardly. Always the same. I guess it is interesting socializing over internet. Just as long as you don't make selfies from dangerous peak of mountain to impress online community then fall. People do dumb things nowadays. Better avocado photo ops. Gorge du Verdun has difficult trekking too, narrow winding path but seems like kindergaten compared to grand canyon, more a pond. Use good hiking boots. Peraps chilly in October in mountains. Keep warm. Drink warm tea. At any rate gets you out of yourself being away. Perhaps new impulses. I remember reading Fitzgerald's novel Tender is the Night about American's in France, switzerland in interwar years. Lots of expats here I guess. If you can get used to daily life, just like anywhere else, especially nowadays Europe is so americanized, supermarkets, films, etc all same. Where to go to escape American way of life, even 3rd world has lots of same, people speak English. Enjoy the fresh air.
