Four friends trek into the remote highlands during the last few days of 2020. The weather and terrain make for challenging conditions as we deal with injuries, wet feet and cold weather. But as always the landscapes, connections and camaraderie make these trips special.

Thanks for watching! These types of shoulder season trips really put into perspective how important it is to have a game plan before going into the backcountry...as well as a plan B, C and D. Let's all stay safe out there and respect these amazing places!

I stayed in the older cabin up there with some friends back in the early 90's. Nice to see they built a new one. Never went all the way to the Franey trail on our trip though. Just up to the cabin and spent a week there and back down the hill. Great journey. 👍

Oh man that was fun. A ballsy creek crossing. We could feel the satisfaction of making it to the cabin, especially after that night in close quarters. Some great terminology in this one like "scream barfing."
@NorthernScavenger
@NorthernScavenger 3 жыл бұрын
Scream barfing was coined from screaming barfies which is a term used for when your hands warm up after being extremely cold and it hurts so much that you want to scream and barf at the same time. Also learned this one from Mr. Greene ha

Another stream crossing technique: 2 people, one faces upstream and one down, with arms locked. Move 1 foot at a time. Shoes on but no socks or pants so they’re dry on the other side. Worked really well in a flooded stream with strong current/heavy packs. Love your videos!😊

Absolutely fantastic adventure and wonderful spot. I love CB, it is a beautiful place. The cabin was in better shape than a lot of them because it is so remote, less destruction because only serious woods travelers would venture that far in. Got a great laugh out of too much food, whiskey and feeling like a bag of smashed assholes, that Dave is a funny guy. Thanks for sharing. :) :)

I’ve only been there in the summer but I do remember the heaviest rainfall I’ve been in back in the 1960s as a kid. My Dad and I were fishing and we got soaked even with rain gear. I’ve been to a few jungle places that came close, but Cape Breton rain still holds first place for a downpour in my 70 years.
