Hi Whitney. Great vlog (as always 😊). So many things to think about. I have shared my need to bring more colour into my life previously and this is still a key point for me. Being reminded of your three pillars of style I have been thinking about what words are defining my current style. I think about who I and what I am inspired by , who inspires me ect. It’s a work in progress, but I think colour is definitely one of the words, especially as we head towards autumn here in Australia (though it is going to be 38 degrees Celsius today- Monday- yikes!). Thankyou for inspiring me to be braver in embracing and bringing more colour into my wardrobe and life.

Whitney, great content! Like you I have both "classic & current" in my 3 pillars, but my 3rd is "comforting" since I have a big personality and a caregiving/leadership vocation and all clothes should be comfortable. I wanted to share that I see classic & current as a pair that balance each other in jeans and a top as well as in tailored formal wear (occasions where my husband would wear his classic suit). I like "colorful" as your third word, it fits your vocation well. Enjoyed the Hermes scarf, goes so well with all three of your words. 🎉

I go with color myself, and I find scarves can really change an outfit. I loved the mall shopping trip outfit the best. I think the vest is fantastic. Living Tennessee vests is what I wear a lot. I don't need a winter coat if it's 50 outside, so vest it is. Thanks for showing your winter capsule.

Funny, I just came to the same conclusion about colour yesterday except that it was about my living room. I have ended up with a lot of autumn colours that all tie into a multicoloured couch and I love it. I really wondered if it would work, but it is so much warmer and more welcoming than the grey that was there when we moved in.

Hi Whitney, first of all, you share your birthday with my aunt… she turns 96! On the 15th. I’ll be driving her to Florida at the end of the month. Happy early birthday 🎂. I liked all of your outfits and the styling as well. My only suggestion is revisit the Hermes scarf… I don’t know if it was the camera angle or the scarf but I thought it made you look bulky on top. (No offense meant). Perhaps if you wore it off to the side instead of straight in front!?!? I am so in your camp of the pop of color during these dreary days. 😊. Your hair is looking shiny & 😊. Hope you celebrate your birthday all week long!

Saw your interview on "Dorothy's Daughter's" KZbin channel. I thought it was great. I loved both her questions which laid out an introduction to your channel and then her viewer questions which were fun and all over the place. It seems that a lot of viewers are really looking for advice regarding the various aspects of how to put together a wardrobe. I remember thinking about how your videos back up all of your answers!! I was a bit surprised that you didn't bring up "Destashify" when you were talking about favorite places to buy fabric. There's so much going on in your universe, I thought it was remarkable that you could answer so concisely. Touché! "Winter Capsule" video: I loved how you used your color palette in your outfits. It was really unexpected to me. Lovely, really lovely. I had to think about your Style Guide words. I spent some time thinking about "Classic" & "Chic" and then wondering if maybe "Current" could also mean "Chic." I decided to go back to tried and true "fashion icons" like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy-O, Lauren Bacall, etc. . . . I even added people like Elvis Presley and Lady Gaga to my musings. This is what I've come up with so far: you can call both Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall "classic" but Katharine Hepburn was never "chic." So, what is "chic?" That's when I started thinking about "Current." Nope. "Chic" does not necessarily mean "current." Nor does it mean "having a style" because Katharine Hepburn certainly had her own style. I thought about how Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich changed the "trench coat" - made it "chic." And once again, Katharine Hepburn in a trench coat looked "classic" but not "chic." So, to make a long story short, I think you should hyphenate "Classic" so that it means what you want; i.e. Classically-chic or Chic-Classic; anyway, including it because I think it needs to be there, but so do Colorful and Current because those are the aspects of fashion that you are always considering and sharing as well. Loved the videos! Thanks! Happy Birthday!! 🥳💫🎂

You’ve got me on the capsule wardrobe band wagon! I have found I don’t need as many clothes as I thought I did. I like you, crave some color! I love prints but am more selective when I purchase fabric now. I love your idea of more dresses in the summer. There is also a LN skort I need to make. I thought the scarf was a perfect pop of color in that outfit. I love to wear scarves, I must own 20! Is there a Stylemaker birthday haul in your future?😊

With the thought of incorporating denim and skirts, why not make a Tommie skirt? I love the darker wash of jeans because the darker colour flatters my bottom half but I am a completely different shape to you and I do understand the difficulty surrounding finding the wash of denim order to make jeans etc. Use fabrics with stretch when making waisted skirts for comfort etc. I love the idea of being colourful throughout the winter months. I love colour too! It's mood lifting for sure which is something we all need for various reasons. I like waisted skirts because of my pear shape and actually showing off the assets of my body. But I think I need to look at comfortable bottoms for wearing in Autumn after my hip surgery in March but I don't like wearing track pants outside the house - I have trouble accepting that these would be anything other than lounge/ active wear and I just don't find them flattering to wear in public. I'd rather wear jeans or something that is a little more sophisticated. I'm worried about this rumour of swelling in the operated leg and for how long I'll have to wear baggy pants. Just find that elastic waist just accentuate the hips with all the gathering and they just don't look good. But I enjoyed watching this video because it gives so many really nice ideas for relaxed and comfortable yet chic outfits. The heat has been ridiculous this week! It's 45 degrees celsius today and I'm going to take advantage of the air-conditioning at my local craft group to get some much needed sewing. I still haven't finished my swimsuits but I need to make actual clothes today as I have pre admission appointments this week and the school swimming carnival (and yes the bathers will be complete by then as I'm in the pool with the kiddies who don't swim well). Loads happening. Have a lovely birthday week Whitney xx

When I was in high-school in the late 70's, you could buy this tiny box of prewash soap to wash your jeans in the first time. It would fade it just the right tint for me. It was a powder and must have had real bleach in it. Sometimes I would soak over night.
