I’m 27 & been trucking for 3 years now, before that i was working minimum wage jobs like cleaning restrooms & stocking at grocery stores. I went from making like 30k working minimum wage to making 90k so far as a trucker. Being a truck driver has been a big step up in my life & I plan to make this my long term career until the day I retire.

It is interesting to watch you "preflight" your truck the way I used to preflight a plane. When you depend on a vehicle to get you safely around this is so important. I also inspect my car before driving, guess it is habit. You seem like a well organized young man. All the best to you and your fellow truckers. We owe you all a debt of gratitude or we would not have all the goods we need to live our lives. Love your coffee maker! The instrument panel is quite something. All the best to you.

I'd just like to add how pilot habits of checking everything (via checklist if possible) are incredibly useful in everyday life. That's especially true in medicine, where so many lives more would be saved if they (checklists) weren't so underused and mostly unknown as a tool. There's even a book about that (Checklist Manifesto).

It's weird to see you praising him for something as basic as pretriping his truck. That's apart of the job. It's not optional. Any trucker that doesn't do it is both lying on his logging that he is and is also a menace on the road.

@@gamdanyunizar7849 from what I know many truck driver can afford to buy a truck, which costs significantly more than an average used sport car. Also I don't see sport car in this video (in the beginning it is a normal car). Also I think the statement that there will be always work in trucking industry is not necessary true. Self-driving trucks might start being widespread in 10 years from now. Yeah I guess there will be jobs for some custom cases, but in general no human driver might be needed. Many professions died in the past 50 years (e.g. taxi dispatcher, now it is done by user, language translator jobs are affected by web translator etc)

Absolute professional, legend in time. My dad drove truck for 45 years, I rode with him since I was in a carrier. Collectively I would say around 1 million of the many millions he drove. I couldn’t be more proud of him. Growing up I learned so much. I miss him. Keep on truckin’ brother!

So long as you're a owner operator you're good plus it should be fairly easy for a seasoned operator to be able to get one of those self driving trucks and put it on the road! I can totally understand why so many people are loving this live and I´m totally thankful for every truck driver out there. I worked in the warehouse for five years and our truck driver was one of the most laid back people I have ever met. When I asked him what the secret was, he said: "Find a job that you enjoy and where people don't get on your nerves, being a truck driver means being your own boss. There are a lot of jobs out there that are quite the same" - So I quit and became a health Psychologist, alldough I got a "boss" over me, I am my own boss and can help people. For you, the one who is reading this right now, I hope you find your dream job too, don´t think "will I stay at this horrible job forever" - no of course you will not! It’s not bad once your used to it. Peterbilts, and Kenworths mostly have all the gauges. Volvo’s don’t have much at all. There are 9 speeds, 10 speeds, super 10’s. 13, 15, and 18 speeds. Super 10’s and 18’s will have a gray splitter on the side of the shifter. 15’s are blue and 13’s are red. 9 and 10’s you don’t have the splitter you just have the low and high side. Which means if you’re driving a 10 speed and you start out in first gear it’s clear over to the left and down. Reverse is clear up to the left and up. So you go from 1rst up to 2nd, down to 3rd up and over to 4th, down to .5th. Then you lift the black button up now you’re in the high side. So you go back over and down to where first gear is now that’s 6th gear, then up and over to 7th, 8,9,10. I hope this made sense. A 9 speed is a bit different 1rst is up top then down to 2nd up and over to 3rd, down to fourth, split back up to 5th down to 6 up and over to 7th. Down to 8th gear. It’s considered a nine speed cause u have a granny gear. 13 speed is pretty much the same as a 9 speed as far as the shift pattern, but you use the little red splitter to split the high side. 18 you can split both the top and bottom. That’s used more for heavy loads, hills, etc... I know this probably didn’t make sense, but just trying to explain for new people.

I can tell that you are Cuban... some of the best truck drivers around. Being a commercial driver is one of the best experiences... you are moving around and seeing a lot and not stuck in a cubicle per say looking at the same walls and people day in and day out. The sense of freedom is great. The money can be great too and depending who you work for there is retirement as well like driving a bus for a city and after 23 years of service you can retire with a pension. So if you start at 20 years old by 43 years old you can retire and do something else. A job like that is usually very secure unless of course you mess up somewhere, but usually even if the economy is bad you still have a job and benefits.

To me whenever I drive I always respect truck drivers! Ik it’s not an easy job so I always make sure to give them enough room, Always wave out or toot my horn when they pull over for us to pass simple but puts a smile on both faces so respect my man! Hope nothing but the best for you bro 💯
