A week off grid at my cabin in the wilderness. Strong summer storms coming through. Breaking up a beaver dam. Clearing the ATV trail.

We put a couple of long sections of 6" pipe in ours and let the beavers build over it. No problems since.

Great video!! So glad a tornado didn’t touch down. The weather is so unpredictable lately. Maybe you and Bumblebee might have to dig out an underground shelter. Those beavers are incredible.

They was certainly a nasty storm happy you and the cabin are ok. Those darn beavers are destroying the trail and no doubt they now have some babies I'd be so tired of them and constantly having to break up dams, a never ending battle I feel for you. Trap some and relocate the buggers . . Garden looks fantastic WOW ! . better than mine . Great video as always Russ, thanks for bring us along on the battle with beavers ep. that was some downpour gezz .

You are doing a much better job at tackling the dam than in the past. You need to take the dam out all the way across not just in one spot and pull the muck out behind the dam. You need to find someone to help you hit it harder. You need hours to totally clear just one section if it. Wish I could help but that's not possible. Keep it up👍🏻 said with much love. I understand your struggles

Dam good video. That time lapse of you doing the dam work was inspirational, Fun to watch a human trying to dismantle a dam one stick at a time the way the dam beaver built it. Lotta lotta work there Russel. As if you had not noted that. Kudos to you man. You and Bucky could get a personal war going there. I think the beaver are more sneaky and live much closer but YOU really put some effort into this. Most of the dam work I have seen like this was done with tannerite. The big bang theory of dam removal. Much more fun and much more damage. Thanks Russel, good work .

Hey Russell. Seem like every rainfall comes with a tornado warning these days. Water here is still crazy high as well. At least I don’t have beavers to contend with. Hope the garden turns out. Have a great weekend!!!!!!

I have never heard the term, "When I am doing my vigorous..." before. 🤔 I couldn't figure out what you were saying but thanks to CC I deciphered what you were saying. The rain was lovely. Just what I needed to see. Our temps in my neck of the woods is going to be 46 Celcius (115 F) today! We desert folk stay inside during weather like this, so it was wonderful to see the rain on your channel. Oddly enough another channel I follow also shared a rainy day today. No one loves the rain like desert folk. Pea soup, Russell. Give my regards to CG.

You could try making a culvert that looks like a T for the dam, with the T part oriented vertically on the pond side. If the beavers try to block the opening of the T, once the water rises, the debris floats away and then starts to drain again. Could make a cheap one out of ABS or with galvanized steel if you have a Forestry budget 🤑
@erichgallasch5367Ай бұрын
Take those logs back to the cabin to begin your hugelkultur garden mound. Cheers 😊
@realamerican6101Ай бұрын
Hey Russell could you put a culvert where the beaver dam is. And if you can find a bunch of 5-gallon buckets and cut the bottom out of them and stack them together that's a good way to make a culvert.

Hey Russell! I follow a trapper called “Yawt Yawt” He traps beavers that destroy people’s property. He has even posted about cooking up some beavers. His dogs enjoy the tails and feet as well. You might need to lessen your problem with a little eradication of them. Try barbecuing some beaver steaks. L😂

the "bug-zeebo" open the dam on the outer edges, where it's 2-3 feet in depth. then open the center located in the stream (the spot you are currently breaking). beavers will be too busy plugging up the center while the outer-edges let the water out. i don't know if that made any sense, but good luck.

@kevinwiley9696Ай бұрын
Russel, I would like to make a suggestion for your chainsaw box. Drill 3-4 holes on each of the ends with a 1 inch blade bit. Put them close together so you can get your hands through the holes (with gloves on for winter or work gloves) and then you can use two hands to carry the box instead of one hand with the webbing. You will be mor balanced and won’t strain your back lifting the heavy box with one hand. Fix the flooded trail by GETTING RID OF THE BEAVERS!!!!!!!!

Exactly, he drove right under them while he had the chainsaw with him. 🙄 Cut them down Russell before one of them comes down lower and you don’t duck low enough.

are you allowed to use thermite in canada ? its an explosive we can buy here in the states.i had a beaver dam problem i used to take care of a few times a year until i got too old and just blew it up and no more beaver dam anymore ! maybe once a tear or two i have to go back and take care of business, check it out. you need a more efficient and permanent way of dam removal without removing the beaver.

too bad you cant get your excavator back there....or some TNT... or a rifle, I mean, who is gonna hear it? actually, you could buy another mini ex, drive it over there in the winter, and just leave it for the summer beaver festival of damnable destruction. did you buy the shed yet ?
