A week on highstreet shops - where you only shop down the local high street at local butchers/fruit veg shops/fishmongers/baker - would be interesting to see what you find or what lefts in the local area and an interesting retrospective on the impact of supermarkets/online outlets have on the high street.

You talk about how much the food costs, but a lot of the stuff you buy will go a lot further then the one bowl of cereal or oatmeal that you use on the week-on, so the cost total should only be for what you actually eat.

Good pizza is actually really easy and cheap to make. Buy a jar of marinara sauce, bag of shredded mozzarella, flour, olive oil, salt, sugar, yeast, toppings. The dough is the hardest part, but making your own tastes so much better than the stuff from a frozen pizza. You can splurge and coat the baking sheet with garlic powder and melted butter to make the crust taste amazing. Just mix the flour with warm water, salt, sugar, yeast and olive oil and then mix. Let it rise about 30 minutes and you're good. They have all that stuff at the Aldis here in the states, so I assume that you can get something similar from the Aldis over there.
@anonymousthanks47185 жыл бұрын
Yeah i make fresh pizza once a few weeks. I use bread flour which is 40p and makes enough dough to feed 8 people. The pizza sauce I make myself, first fry very finely chopped garlic and onions then add a can of tinned tomatoes and some tomato puree. Then add salt and a pinch of sugar and Italian herbs I used basil and oregano. Then blend it and slowly cook it on the hob.

I just bought a new oven for the first time in 10 years. My old one used to be a gas one which meant the heat wasn't distributed properly and I had to turn the pizza around like every 10 mins. Now I bought an AEG integrated oven from John Lewis it was 799 then in a summer I got it for 499 which is an absolute bargain. The pizza cooked in here has been waaay better. It has steambake function which makes any bread taste better.
