I was anticipating Henrik's appearance-- a fine looking fellow-- and then the guy comes in and looks like an accountant! ; )

BRAVO! Excellent version. FIRST TIME I HAVE HEARD THE FABULOUS FRENCH HORN 8th note 5 measure riff over the final chord!!!!!!!!

And at 5:44 the horn quote of the opening of Strauss' der Rosenkavalier. A genius wink to those who can hear it.

@@69EBubu really? I think both of these French horn sections are clearly audible on the OBC recording.
@69EBubu6 ай бұрын
@malp1 indeed. But not everyone realize it's a direct quote from Rosenkavalier, as musical lovers and Sondheim fans are not necessarily opera connoisseurs.

@@69EBubu yes, of course, but I was referring to comment by the poster above that this was the "FIRST TIME I HAVE HEARD THE FABULOUS FRENCH HORN 8th note 5 measure riff over the final chord!!!!!!!!"

I love seeing Everyone's individual recording process; the Carl Magnus conducting is so endearing and of course Maria Friedman is absolutely luminous.

I remember the first time I saw Susan Hampshire was on The Forsyte Saga. The first look at her was through a sculpture in an art exhibit, her face perfectly framed. I live in the US and haven't seen her much through the years. She's still stunningly beautiful and her voice is perfect for that role. The Forsyte Saga was also the first time I saw Margaret Tyzak, playing one of the few characters who made it through almost all of the series.

I was recently at a party in London and Susan Hampshire was there. She’s exactly the same! As for Margaret Tyzack, one of my all time favourites.
