After getting grilled chicken skewer in Kul Lumpar on 1 international trip and the Tunisian chicken skewers on another... salmonella is real. I never eat it traveling at food stalls and even restaurants if there's any cross contamination. I went to the hospital because San Tung served undercooked chicken wings to me and got salmonella poisoning in San Francisco. Never worth the food pennies vs going to the ER.

Sour coffee could also mean a lighter roast coffee than you're used to. I like a stronger, bold coffee with a little cream and sugar. However, when I've ordered a coffee from a new place and it's sour it's generally a lighter roast with more acid which gives it a sour taste. So if the place serves lighter roast, I order a latte to balance out the sourness of the coffee and is much more pleasant to drink.

@@runrgrl35 Maybe. Since it's a layer of foam it still might not be enough to remove the sour taste. I only noticed the sour taste when trying coffee shops in NYC that served Stumptown, Intelligentsia and others at newer more trendy coffee shops and my regular order of coffee with a little milk tasted sour. I later learned that the lighter roasts have more fruity notes sometimes berries, fruits like citrus and other flavors that tend to make it sour. My preference is smooth, bold and balanced with more nutty, chocolate notes and avoid coffee that has fruit notes unless I add milk to balance it. Some say light roast coffee is under roasted while dark roast is over roasted and bitter. Now before placing a coffee order I try to know the roast and the coffee notes so at least the coffee is drinkable for me. I would rather have coffee that is more bitter than sour. So I tend to avoid lighter roasts. A lot of medium roasts unless labeled medium dark are not much darker than light roasts so I would order a latte or cappuccino to make up for the sourness.

@@runrgrl35 After spending a lot of money on coffee that was sour, I wanted to know why it tasted that way for me so I don't keep making the same mistake over and over again. A little education goes a long way. The coffee itself isn't bad but sometimes you just need to adjust how you drink it so you can still enjoy it. You just need to figure out the ratio of coffee to milk. Mine is almost 50/50 for lighter roast coffee and for darker smoother roasts it's just a splash of cream to take the bitterness away.

I got a great food rec for a vlog! Check out Local Chengdu for Szechuan food (it's across the street from the Taiwanese restaurant you visited a couple of vlogs ago). My favorites are the hot boiled fish, mapo tofu, Sichuan chili fried chicken, and pork intestine dry pot (trust me it's great)!

Ahh to get the perfect texture for the frozen gummy bears, they should soak in sprite for 24 hrs so they're completely soft, with no hard center and then you freeze them for only 3 hrs!

I first had dumpling hours in Walnut Creek (I believed they also have another one in Brentwood) and it was SO good. it's the closest I can find comparing to Ding Tai Fong (except a little sweeter in dumpling hours, which I think it's more of on the ShangHai/Ning Bo side of ppl adding more sugar into food in these regions). I had the first DTF in Arcadia LA back in 2008/09 ish, the xlb was def. top of the line. However, my recent trip (2023) to DTF in Las Vegas is not. For some reasons, they are afraid of ppl would burn their lips so all the xlb there are luke warm... completely defeated the point of it. Dumpling hour also recently opened another new location in Oakland in the Lake Merritt area and it's legit!!!!
