I think this movie has a deep meaning on reality, if you dig deeper you will see the metaphor of turning into cats as a "runaway" or maybe suicide. The message of self love and expression has been delivered beautifully through this movie. It's cute and fun at the same time! Definitely watch it if you have time 😉😉

It breaks my heart every time I think of this beautiful movie remembering just how much love we had for each other back then. I don’t miss her, but I’m not sure I’m over it. This movie was so good I wish that it was a series and there was more to enjoy. I can't believe I formed such an attachment with these characters in an hour and a half. Maybe I resonated with so much(anyone can really) because I've experienced heartache and unrequited feelings. I'm glad it ended on a happy note. I had a feeling that I knew how it would end but it was a pleasant surprise. It's not as if I've never seen this type of story in anime or some other medium but it's just a such a feel good story to me. I want as many people as possible to experience the feelings I did while watching this film

Fun Fact: One of the most famous book in Japanese literature is “I am a cat” by Natsume Souseki where a house cat describes the daily lives of his middle class master’s family. It’s sort of a humorous and ironic critique of humanity living under a society, and how the cat is living a much more happy and simpler life compared to humans....this is reflected in the Japanese title “Wagahai wa Neko de aru” where “Wagahai” is a more regal and pompous version of “watashi” usually reserved for nobles. The fact that a cat is using “wagahai” hints at the fact that the cats lived a better life than humans and can funnily be seen as higher beings ....and this anime is kind of like the book

man, you know that reminds me of an American novel called "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. The novel narrated by the inner voice of a old dog, reflecting on his life and the his time with his middle class family. It also has it's humorous moments but also a can be a real tear-jerker at others. And in this case instead of believing being a dog is the best thing in the world, he believes that being a dog is only temporary and when he dies he'll be reincarnated as a human. It's a really great read and I highly recommend if if your into stories about love, loss, friendships, grief, hardships, family, and you know dogs. It also has a lot of race car and racing stuff in it so if your in to that, cool. If that's not your cup of tea, don't worry its not my thing either. It's the main reason I didn't really think I would like the book when I picked it up. But it honestly doesn't hurt the story in the slightest and it's still my favorite novel to date.

I'm not crying, you are! This is a movie that show's how much we truly wanna be "Found and loved" when we feel like we wanna disappear from whatever hardships life throws towards us. Just watched this movie, and I want to have a discussion about something... SPOILERS BELOW *---------SPOILER ALERT---------* Ok, so when she goes to Cat Island, she meets the past humans that have turned into cats. One of the female cats describes why she ran away from her problems... she says that she thought she was an inadequate mother, so she left. That sounds an awful lot like what Muge’s mother did. She “abandoned her” in grade school and then suddenly reappeared years later (after having adjusted to human life?). What if that cat was actually her mother, and another cat was living as her human mom. I was sort of expecting that this would be the case, and that Muge could get some closure (?) and reasoning behind her mother’s sudden disappearance. But now that I think about it, she would have to constantly live with the fact that her mother is stuck as a cat on Cat Island. It also doesn’t really fit with the message of the story (learning to open your heart and love everybody again). However, part of me wonders if the topic of her previous identity just never crossed their minds. And that, in reality, that cat is Muge’s mother who will live the remaining years of her shortened lifespan regretting the fact that she is no longer able to be with her family... pretty dark isn’t it...

It would be interesting. But personally, I just think she's just meant to a parallel to Muge's mom in the story. It kinda gives Muge an idea of what her own mom might have been thinking when she left. That while yes it was selfish, it wasn't out of hate but out of fear. Fear that she wouldn't be a good enough mother to Muge. At least it might have been one of her reasons, either way, she wants to be a part of Muge's life. And while it's too late for the cat mom and her kids it's not too late for Muge's mom and Muge trying to reconnect and after what she's been through Muge's not going to miss this chance.

Miyo's personality feels really refreshing for a young girl in an anime. She is quirky but impulsive, outgoing but sensitive, her emotions are chaotic and realistic for a girl her age, and it's funny because she manages to remain relatable despite being the total opposite of me. In fact, is relatably well-written. They really managed to make me feel like I lived all 9 lives through this movie, only to feel empty by the end of it, likw "ok, great. Movie's over, now what". I can't believe it's almost been a year already. I love this film so much. Muge is my anime twin. I relate to her so much. I tend to crush on people the way she dose and unintentionally end up being annoying and obvious. The love letters hit home. I used to do those but I stop with the first two crushes. Guys find it annoying and I got rejected brutality. I just hope one day I find my happy ending like she did.

This anime teaches a lesson. A lesson on telling what you really feel, especially in broken families and uncertain relationships. The broken family vibe is so real that telling true feelings is always a matter of life or death. I highly recommend this anime tbh.
