A WHITE John Deere?!?! John Deere 2240 Is The ONLY ONE To Leave The Factory Painted White

Don Russell from Iowas found a uniquely painted John Deere and didn’t know what to think. His research found it was ordered by the city of Sanford, North Carolina who wanted it painted white and even paid an extra $300.00 US dollars to have it done at the factory.
The 2240 was in production for 7 years from 1976 to 1982. Its powered by a John Deere 3-cylinder diesel engine that can do 50 horsepower on the PTO and 30 horsepower on the drawbar.

I remember as a kid, both the State and Town DOT had International Cubs painted bright orange that they would use to mow along the roads. Now, it's whatever color the factory normally paints them.

Nice tractor. For years the US military required all their support vehicles to be painted to match the branch of service. Now they use a few standard colors to save on money. Imagine what it cost to paint a road grader!!

Owned one was my workhorse among my tractors in wa state orchard bought it new in 79 rebuilt it once myself never had to do transmission or final drive best tractor I ever owned and I really worked it!

Out here in eastern Washington there was a farmer just on the other side of pasco Wa that all of his John Deere’s were painted white, I’m not sure if he or his tractors are still around but many remember him

I have a green cockshutt 20.. it was red, then Yellow and ended up green.. seen another one for sale with the exact paint jobs.. so. Assume it was a department of highways unit... not something that a farmer painted...

Germans were buying up dairy farms in Upstate NY around the 1980s and one farm in Richfield Springs they bought I believe it was Ford tractors and had them painted a purple color I believe. I thought it was strange and a waste of money.

That’s the border patrol tractor. I assume the locking cover over the radiator and fuel tank caps is to prevent tampering
