Hey Theo! I know I'm just a comment that'll be buried but man just hearing you talk about your life, your experiences with your dad, obviously you've heard it before but I'm thankful for you to talk about things like this. I have a shitty relationship with my father and have began working on coming together after 15+ years and its very difficult. I am wishing the best for you man, I hope that you can be at peace with the things you want to solve and cannot solve, and I know your dad is sitting there watching you knowing you made a good life for yourself, smiling. Hope you have a good one brother!!! Gang gang

favorite episode so far my man. the realism I get from you and the stories you let us in on shows me I am not the only one who is struggling with these things. Even at 43 and pulling myself out of the poverty, making sure my wife and kids never have to feel that pain.. I just have to wonder if the internal voice will stop telling me how I am worthless, useless or evil because even being married with two actual good kids, I am constantly fighting inner demons.. Maybe some day it will end, but if it doesn't at least I have you to listen to and that helps. Thanks for being there even when you don't realize you are. love ya dude.

I love him and he's the reason why I'm here, he's the reason why I'm strong. Hearing Theo talk about his father and a sense of pride made me realize that I want to get to know my father. 4 years ago I was on a walk in Sefton park listening to this episode on the day it came out when I got the text that I was not accepted into the house share I had applied for. I was homeless at the time, sleeping on my friend's sofa, and I had put all of my hopes on this application going well. I sat on the floor and cried uncontrollably for about half an hour, listening to Theo and his callers, and it just made me feel less alone. That things might be ok. The outro felt like it spoke to me directly. I'll never forget that.

@@WilliamJarrottdigging and forgiving is for sure great when it is done in a healthy way. We can't hold grudges against our inner child. It creates self hate and shame. Empathy and compassion is so important in healing. I am so glad he isn't afraid to feel those uncomfortable feelings and really address them. Gotta uncover layers of trauma. Dr Gabor Mate is amazingly intriguing when it comes to this. I just hope he knows every day is a new day, and he is well loved, and definitely not alone.

I'm a middle act on the southern east coast now. Not a very good one, but that's where I'm at these days. I can't dedicate myself to it as much as I'd like to at the moment but in March I'll hopefully be on the road again. The original road trip this post is alluding to didn't go well, but I eventually got into a groove with it. I drove to Jacksonville, FL for the first stop back then but I gravely underestimated the traffic, job market and the comedy scene there. Ended up being consistent Ls for the first few months but my situation improved over time. I'm good now. I may never make it, but I enjoy it and that's all that matters to me. It's a side project for myself along with Jiujitsu. @@adammoye5978

Thanks for sharing T! I love the real talk. You've experienced some crazy adversity in your life. I found out recently that I'm gonna be a dad, and hearing your story made me think about the relationship I have with my dad and how I want to approach my relationship with my son(s) or daughter(s). You're a sweetheart and it was really nice to hear your thoughtful perspective about your relationship with your dad. I'm sure if your dad was still around, he'd be really happy to hear this podcast and how you thought about him now, even knowing the shame you felt about him growing up. I'd certainly understand and appreciate how difficult it would be for you if I was your dad in those circumstances. Love the podcast! Keep on keepin' on bud.
